Please don't take this the wrong way, but
1) there is already a thread on this topic, and 2) (and this applies to that thread, too) we have pretty much HAD access to RPI all year long. All we have learned from this release is that Rich pretty much has RPI figured out.
If we want to talk about RPI, just look at the RKPI and we can have that discussion anytime (for example, this revelation that the Big Ten is the top rated conference in RPI is not new - that information has been sitting there for many weeks)

Please don't take this the wrong way, but anyone else's "RPI" isn't the real RPI. This is.

Please take this as I suggest:
The RPI is useless and meaningless. The RPI only vaguely computes relative position among teams who have played each other and does not reflect upon the true national "ranking" of any team.
Any discussion of absolute rankings from the RPI is ridiculous as is its use as an NCAA Selection tool.

Please take this for what its worth. The RPI is useless and meaningless. I'm still curious about how it comes out in the cumulative pick-the-winners. What are the odds that it comes out performing better than you?

This is more reasoned, although I will say this: how exactly does the NCAA use it as a selection tool? I don't want to know how they SAY it is used, but I want to know how it is used. As you know, there is no indication that the NCAA committee uses the RPI to do anything but to prevent condensation rings on the tables.

What are the odds that it comes out performing better than you? LOL. More likely than not, it'll beat me, but I always pick my favorites... not who I think will win. My performance depends solely upon my team's performance.

Well, if they used it as a Selection Tool the way I suggest, they would print the RPI on double-layered, quilted, soft, continuous with perforation, tissue. They claim that they use it for a few things, I think that when it gets down to 70-teams or so, they lop off the lowest 6 RPIs to save some time.

In robs defense for posting anew, the original thread has quickly slipped to page 2 or beyond by now. It has been amazing how quickly the topics fly off of the board with slower response times.

That just makes up for the posts where you're at least double snippy!
