Congrats to Emily! Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week Oct. 30, 2006 Emily Schroeder - Wayne State (Neb.) Junior, Middle Hitter, 5-11 (Belden, Neb. - Laurel-Concord High School) Emily Schroeder, a junior middle hitter for then-ranked #24 Wayne State (Neb.), has been named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. Schroeder earned the award with her strong all-around play in helping lead the Wildcats to two wins against then-ranked #20 Southwest Minnesota State and Winona State. In Wayne State's win over Southwest Minnesota State, Schroeder had 29 kills in 55 attempts for a .436 hitting percentage. She also chipped in 11 digs and six total blocks. Three days later, she continued her strong play in the Wildcats' win over Winona State by putting down 20 kills in 53 attempts for a .226 hitting percentage. In addition, she had 10 digs and three total blocks in the match. All told last week, Schroeder averaged 6.12 kills per game, a hitting percentage of .333, 2.62 digs per game and 1.12 blocks per game. Schroeder is the first player from Wayne State to earn the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week honor. The Wildcats are coached by Scott Kneifl.
