Cyclones win in 4, 30-27, 30-22, 24-30, 30-22. I think it's time they start getting some love from the pollsters. How is Baylor receiving votes while ISU gets none and they swept all 6 games from Baylor in 2 matches. Bad loss to Texas Tech, otherwise all their losses are to good teams.

I really hope that ISU can keep it up and make the NCAAs this year after being left out last season. Their case is stronger this year. I know I have said it before, but it is really impressive what Christy has done with that program in her first two years. Coach of the year in that league will be a tough call, as Oklahoma has really impressed as well. Also, I think Cook deserves consideration. If they run the table after losing Elmer, Saleamua, and Houghtelling, that is pretty good coaching as well.

Iowa State has done better. But I think Baylor deserves those votes as well. The final month should really unfold everything!

Important road win for the Cyclones. When we get to the end of the season, this might be the match that got Iowa State into the NCAA tournament.
They are now 8-5 in the Big 12 and 16-7 overall. They have remaining 7 matches: Kansas, Nebraska, @tamu, Texas Tech, @texas, @ Oklahoma & Colorado. If they continue to play at the level they've shown recently they should end up with 3 or 4 more wins. That puts them above .500 in the conference and at 19 or 20 wins on the season.
The big problem with their schedule is trying to find quality wins. They now have road wins over both Colorado and Missouri - plus they've taken 2 from Baylor. Baylor is still probably a bubble team at best, so without this win, they would have still only had that Colorado win to count as a "good win" if Baylor doesn't make it and that might not have been enough.
Unless they fall flat in November, I think they are now in the NCAA Tournament.

It's great to see the Kreklow's whine about the poor play of their team. It's not just poor play it's average talent. If they would spend more time recruiting locally they might have some success. Both international players are very average. The setter is not effective and the outside is slow and is easy to read for blocks.

Mizzou would also be better if they played more defense. I just got done watching their match with Nebraska, and their floor defense was really poor. It seemed like every tip fell for a kill and every hard shot hit the floor untouched. I know Nebraska has a lot of firepower on offense, but it was just ugly for MU. The difference in the match, apart from NU being more talented, was that the Huskers dug a lot of similar hits from the Tigers. They looked pretty impressive in that match. Holloway is impressive, while MU's setter seemed to struggle to push the ball all the way across the court. something Holloway does with ease. VanderKooi is really good, though. They will miss her a lot next year.

For some reason I really can't stand husband/wife coaching duos. And now Christie is one also.
