::)RUFF IWON'T PURSUE LAST WEEKS GAME WITH YOU BECAUSE IT WON'T SOLVE ANYTHING. WE EACH HAVE OUR OPIONS. HOWEVER EARLY IN THE SEASON, I REMEMBER READING POSTS ON THIS SITE, #1, THE COACHING STAFF HAS THEIR FAVORITES! #2, THE COACHING RELIES ON STATISTICS FOR THIER CHOICES. I'D BE INTERESTED IN COMMENTS REGARDING THESE STATMENTS.

I'm not sure I follow you.
But I can almost guarantee that the Gopher staff is going to play the kids who they believe will give them the best chance of winning. Do those kids become their "favorites"? Maybe. I don't see it happening the other way around.
Statistics would back up these choices.
But maybe I'm not understanding you correctly...

I think there is no doubt that a coach would have favorites. Isn't that human nature? Your personality meshes with some better than others.
Do the Gopher coaches have favorites? I'd be surprised if they didn't. Is that a problem? In my opinion only if they play their favorites when the favorites don't deserve to play or if they are blatant about showing favoritism and giving more coaching/positive feelback to their favs.
