You mean the one who's on schedule to be the first college graduate from her family; unlike her auntie who played for Hawaii? Good for Saleaumua if she graduates. I absolutely wish her the best. As for the "unlike her auntie who played for Hawaii" part. Her auntie being ineligible after one year and not graduating had everything to do with her auntie and nothing to do with Hawaii. I suppose besides providing tutors and encouraging her, they should have tried to pressure the professors to pass her anyway but it just didn't happen. (And, yes, I was there so I do know this firsthand.)

(And, yes, I was there so I do know this firsthand.) That's my point exactly, it is almost all about the person she is. It's not easy to emerge from the situation that she had put herself into and get to where she is now. But it does have something to do with the school/coach itself. When Jen wasn't towing the line academically at Nebr, Cook held her accountable until she got back on track with the help of the resources of the Univ and AthDept. But I should have just ignored yet another snide comment about JenS by a Hawaii fan. It's been over 5 years, I wish some of your fellow UH fans would just move on already. Off topic again so I'll make this the last comment on this thread regarding this.

PrepVolleyball.com 2007 Senior Aces 6. Kimmie Roleder, 6-2 OH -- USC 8. Zoe Garrett, 6-2 MB -- USC I didn't know that Roleder is a highly ranked player, and it is good that Haley is stocking up on hitters to build the team around Carico and Bateman. Hopefully, with the influx of new players next season, and the progress of the OHs (Gysin, Copenhagen and Kaczor), USC will be back in making some serious noise in Pac-10 and post-season.

But I should have just ignored yet another snide comment about JenS by a Hawaii fan. It's been over 5 years, I wish some of your fellow UH fans would just move on already. Agreed. Here's my last point on the subject since there is still the implication that Hawaii/Shoji didn't do enough or should have done more -- which you may not have meant at all but it's out there and I feel I need to clarify. Her auntie was extremely talented at volleyball and smart enough to pass if she put her mind to it. Shoji tried everything from benching her, to special tutoring sessions, to having staff walk her to class to get her to go. She would leave class right after they dropped her off. School, and by extension volleyball (since she knew she had to pass to play), were not her priorities at least at that time in her life. Shoji places great emphasis on academics. That's why the Wahine always have one of the top team GPA's in the athletic department every year (and that's why when they get sent to Texas and then to Penn St., they come back to Hawaii in between if it's finals week.) However, it's up to the individual to make the most of it and do their part. That's all.

Jantsch (ohio university) and Hagglund (washington) are two of the top setters, not spry kids but very solid

just my OPINION(S)... Garrett - she's a goooooood one, i'd love to see mick let her play all the way around but it probably wont happen. boo! If she's good enough to play all the way around over a starting OH then it's possible. Bishop got to play through all six rotations last season. This was mostly out of necessity due to lack of serve receivers, but I don't see Mick denying a kid a chance to show all her stuff if she can deliver. I've never seen Garret play. Can she pass? Can Garrett beat out Copenhagen in backrow play? Or is her backrow hitting better than those of Kaczor?

Has any volleyball program ever signed both the #1 and the #2 recruit from the same class? What about #1, #2, and #3 - if Klineman signed with Texas, would that be a first?

Yes Arizona scored with Bre Ladd #1 and Kim Glass #2. And Abernathy was in the top 15 think.

I don't think it's any secret that there are two top 10 recruits for 2008 in the SF Bay Area in Amanda Gil (Archbishop Mitty HS in San Jose) and Tarah Murrey (St Mary's College HS in Berkeley). Click on the picture, and you can see my photos from the St Mary's at Bishop O'Dowd match last Wed. I'm pretty sure that's Tarah in the corner stretching during the JV match. She wears #4. Awesome player and from all accounts a great teammate.

Watched Betsy Smith play today, I think she can definitely be a top 10 recruit in 08. Still looks like she's growing into her 6'3" frame. When the Gator training staff gets ahold of her, look out.
