Michigan was *definitely* on fire. Mike's comment afterward was that they "played out of their heads" (I'm not sure why anyone would play inside their own head... it's too small for a volleyball court, and the top of the skull is too low for any sort of passing...)
Our digging was off, but I honestly don't know whether it's because: 1) Michigan was on fire 2) Our blocking was out of position, making the digging that much harder 3) Our digging was off. Or, some combination of the above.

My guess was going to be that the Gophers serving was less effective (either not serving as well or the Wolverines adjusted to be able to pass the Gophers serves better).
I believe the Gophers 3-4 of their 7 aces, only 3 of their 10 service errors, and 5 of their 8 blocks in the first game. The number of blocks in that game seemed to indicate Michigan was out of system a fair amount.
If the Gophers serving was less effective (especially in the 2nd and 3rd games) then the Wolverines would have been able to run their quick offense (which the Gophers had some problems with in their home match against Michigan) giving the Gophers block less time to get set up / close and in turn giving their defense a lessened ability to make plays on the balls that may have gone through the block.

If you want to be an elite team, you can't be losing to teams like Michigan.

Because they read this thread and saw that you were saying bad things about their team?
