As usual for CSTV no audio. Don't know what happened in game 1, but in game 2 UCSB is being beaten like a red headed step child.

Well, that's the season for UCSB. We lose in 5. I'm sorry for this team that there contribution to the UCSB legacy will be the first team to miss the NCAA playoffs. They just don't have the mental toughness to consistantly win when the pressure is on. Too bad.

Do you think so?
Even if they finish 19-11, with wins over definitely NCAA bound Wisconsin, LMU and Pepp?

It's not the wins, it's the losses. Losses to UCI at home and CSUF at the end of the season. We have lost 3 out of our last 4. Also, our RKRPI was 58 going into this weekend. It's going to drop into the 60's after the loss tonight.

beaten like a red headed step child. Do you read the comic strip "Get Fuzzy"? This morning, Darby Conley offers us a replacement for this worn out simile: "Beaten like a crying child in a department store." Bummer about the loss to fullerton. I was thinking about being in Long Beach the day after thanksgiving and catching those last 2 games of the season, since I need to make a trip down there at some point anyway to see the auarium of the pacific's new bull shark. Now I'm thinking I might schedule that trip for a night when there's an ice dogs hockey game instead.

Yeah, you're right. That's just the frustration talking. I'll let the rum start talking again and stick with the plan to catch those last two games. Congrats to Fullerton, by the way. Though I hope they realize they have now made it necessary for me to dig out my old "Dismember the Titans" sign and wave it around during next year's match.

Really nice job by CSF- they played with more energy and executed better than UCSB. Neither offense was spectacular, but CSF had a large margin in blocking- hard to win on the road if the other team is controlling the net. UCSB will have to finish strong if they want to overtake CSN for third place in the Big West.

Garbisch on the loss to CSUF from the UCSB student paper:
“I guess we just weren’t ready to play,” senior outside hitter Jamie Garbisch said. “They were playing at home and it was their senior night so they were really fired up.”
“We beat them pretty bad in the first game and we had the lead in the second game, but they came back and ended up taking it,” Garbisch. “We played really well in the fourth game, but in the fifth they just made less errors than we did. We had a lot of balls go out.”
“We beat both [Pacific and Northridge] in three the last time we played them,” Garbisch said. “We just need to come out ready to play because we are good when we are ready, but when we kind of take it easy, we don’t do so well.”
That last quote says it all.
