Big 12 Volleyball Player of the Week - Nov. 6 Nov. 6, 2006
IRVING, Texas-- Ashley Engle (Texas) has earned the Big 12 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honor for the matches of Oct. 30-Nov. 5, the league office announced.
Engle, a freshman opposite hitter for the Longhorns, becomes the third UT player to be named player of the week this season. Michelle Moriarty (Aug. 28) and Destinee Hooker (Oct. 23, 30) also received the award.
Ashley Engle, Texas, RS, Fr., 6-3, Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza Engle led the Longhorns to a 2-0 record with victories against Kansas (3-0) and at Baylor (3-1). She paced the squad with a team-high 5.00 kills per game, while averaging 5.86 points and 4.29 digs.
At Baylor, Engle tallied a career-high 27 kills to spark the UT offense after dropping game one of the match. The Yorba Linda, Calif. native also contributed a .396 attack clip, 17 digs and a block in the win.
Engle posted eight kills and 13 digs in addition to five total blocks and two service aces in the sweep of KU.
On the week, Engle compiled a .319 hitting percentage after connecting on 35 kills in seven games. She also recorded 30 digs, six total blocks, three service aces and three assists.

Finally.......some Big 12 recognition for Engle, she's had a great year!

She's got a great all-around game and is tons of fun to watch.
Lots of guts, too.
It's a great time to be a Longhorns fan.
