This is the third career WAC Player of the Week for the junior, having been named player of the week twice in 2005. The Kane’ohe, O’ahu (Castle) native, hit .621 on the week, averaging 3.33 kills and 2.00 blocks per game in the two road wins for the Rainbow Wahine. The junior hit .611 with 12 kills and six blocks at Nevada (Nov. 2), then hit .636 with eight kills and six blocks at Utah State (Nov. 4). Sanders is now hitting .397 on the season, averaging 2.41 kills and 1.31 blocks per game. With the wins over Nevada and Utah State the Hawai‘i. Other nominees included: Alisha McKee of Fresno State had 17 kills in two losses last week ... Karly Sipherd of Nevada had 20 kills and 17 block assists for the Wolf Pack last week, as Nevada went 1-1 ... Krystal Torres of New Mexico State had 41 digs in two matches as the Aggies swept WAC foes Boise State and Idaho... Colleen Burke of San Jose State 13 kills in a win at Fresno State.

Ms. Sanders is one of my favorite Wahine. She is humble, considerate and kind. AND she hits the heck out of a volleyball. Congrats to you Juliana! Great job!!
