After hearing about the results of todays game againts AZE, it is evident that we need better outsides for the next Olympics, but who are our options ?? I know taht everyone wants Tom to come back, but reality is she is not likely to come back. Willoughby would be the biggest catch but after that who do we have as an option ??

Willoughby would be a great catch, but is she even interested in joining the US national team? She has spurned the national team in the past, and has even seriously entertained the thought of playing for the Puerto Rico national team.
A very short term solution is obviously calling on the many American pro players playing all over the world, and hoping that a few of them would provide the answers (but maybe not as even Crawford who has been playing pro can't do much as OH for the national team) as well as getting a number of collegiate OH players to start training with the national team (and teaching and getting them to catch up with international vball playing styles).
A longer term solution would be to start incorporating very promising juniors into national team training (like they did with Tom and Barboza), and bringing them along to major competitions, rather than limiting them to their age-appropriate YNT and JNT.

Kim Willoughby was just Puerto Rico and may go back for the upcoming season. Sounds like the USA may have to make it very attractive for her to join. I also heard that Livingston from Wisconsin was there too. Pardon my questions, but who are the current outsides?

Wow that seems to be slim pickins. What happened to Nnamani? I know the USA loses good players all the time to either foreign teams or the type of training they receive at the National Training Center. The trade off is constant training versus having a life. The latter is winning out. I think Emily Adams would have been great on the National Team. April Ross too, but the USA doesn't know how to keep the ones that could actually help the program. And the other players? katie Wilkins, Tayiba Haneef, and Therese Crawford

I'm sure she's a great gal, everyone likes her, and she gives homeless people the extra change in her pocket, but I find that Adams would be a tad slow on the step to compete at the international level. She always seemed to whiff at the ball in college, but her tall frame helped the ball go down. Wouldn't happen internationally.
ETA: Just because Dillon and Freeburg were setting her, and maybe causing the hitting deficiencies, doesn't make her any quicker. Still seems like a nice girl, though.

Britney that's a retarded statement. Who cares about her humanitarian efforts I was talking about volleyball. She may appear slow because she hasn't been trained at the next level. She has the tools and the family ties of athletes that make her physically able to compete at any level. Bachman was on the national team too and if you can't remember her at UCLA then good. She was soooooo slow! Even Noriega wasn't even that fast on the right side and she played in the Olympics. I think most would agree with you that Adams is slow for the international game, both in closing the blocks as well as in the jump approach for hitting. Her height advantage would be neutralised easily by the top defensive teams (like how Brazilians neutralised Nnamani's over-the-blocks hitting attempts). Plus I don't think her one-year stint at the PR league was a success, and she hadn't been gone back there since.

How is everyone in here so sure of Emily's international prowess? I don't even know, but I'm sure given the opportunity to play an outside position she may do very well. The girl has outstanding ball control for someone of her height. SC made her a one dimensional player and didn't expose the most talented side of her game...finesse and control. Cassie Busse was on the team and that girl could barely tip let alone pass with control.
