Hey anyone know if Artamonova is still playing any club ball or has she Retired ? I think she suffered some injury's during or before the last Olympics and didn't play very much behind Gamova & Shachova ( spelling sry. ) but who can compete with them. And I see that they brought Godina back for the WC. Watch out looks like Russia is back on top of their game., Maybe it's the new Coach...

Godina cannot get along with Karpol and left the team, if she was on that team she could have played OH and Shaskova can played opp and Russia could have won Gold at the Olympics. Shaskova also had problems with Karpol in 2002 and Russia can only managed a bronze in the world championship. Now that Karpol was gone, the good players can return. Hope that Russia can win gold this time

She will be competing for Takefuji Bamboo in V-League. She is in Russia but will arrive there this week. She is 100% after baby and knee surgery. She is still best 1-2 Russian player when she is without injury.

IMO, she hasn't been close to being 100% in a long while. last time i would have considered her in pretty good playing form was 3 years ago. but if she is now, then fantastic. i do hope i'm wrong and that she has a great season in Japan.

Heard she was transferring to U$C.....something about being from a war torn country or something like that Still has 2 years of eligibility left....U$C compliance person said "no problem" when asked about whether or not she would have eligibility problems!

Thanks for the heads-up. Couldn't wait for the Russian bomber to step onto the court in USC's uniform and schooling every Pac-10 teams. Safe to say, 2 guaranteed national championships!

Let us not forget that she has to spend at least a week in College of Southern Idaho to officially get her eligibility notarized.

Yeah, but can Russia's OHs pass? What's that? Oh, nevermind. I don't know if Godina plays OH or MB, but with how much they set high balls outside to Gamova and Sokolova (and Godina?), it doesn't really matter if the OH's can't pass well.

sokolova/chachkova/whateverhernameisthistournament can definitely pass. easily one of the top 5 oh/opps in the world - easily.
artmanova is a better passer than godina. at the levels they've competed (and WON at) trust that neither of them is a real liability. they may not pass at 85+% but they're not horrid either.

I dont' think Godina's presence would have provided much aid for the Russian's quest for Gold in 2004. I mean, Russia should have won it. Godina is not a strong serve receiver. Plotnikova may not have put up great hitting numbers, but she passes on a dime. As powerful as the Russians are from the outside positions, they still work much better in system. If Artamanova was healthy, then that's another story.
