No it's not just rumors. It's actually a reference to the earthquake that swept through the midwest in the aftermath of Tuesday's elections. Nebraska is the center of America and the sudden red state blue state shift was so violent that huge cracks opened in the earth's surface and Nebraska is now slowly disintegrating and being replaced by the world's largest freshwater lake. That's going to take a large amount of water considering the massive drought the majority of the state has been through the last 6 years. :-) God has been saving up all that water for one big mop-up of what he and the angels have come to refer to as "The Nebraska Situation". Six feet high and rising, son.

How about LBSU and Hawaii in the 2nd round? No no no, Ruffduh... we all know the little (and I do mean little) matter of eliminating Long Beach early in the tournament is a special task reserved for UCLA.

Hawaii because everyone wants a junket to the Island and Nebraska because they can afford to pay the expenses of everyone who comes to be their next prey. This is great for the home crowd to be sure, but in Hawaii's case their conference sucks so they get little road experience against really good opponents(sorry UH, but NMSU is not a high calibre opponent), thus if they have to travel in the tournament which is inevitable in todays world they run into trouble..... sorry this post is a little delayed so slightly off topic at this point, but i think you could argue that hawaii has been pretty successful on the road in the ncaas in recent years despite playing their entire preseason at home--made it to the final four in 2002 going through nebraska, made it out of what was supposed to be a tough sub-regional at colorado state (with some help from purdue) in 2004, beat texas at texas in 2005. it's the second week on the road that killed them, and even then i don't think their losses were wholly the product of playing in a hostile environment (well i guess it had some effect in wisconsin in 2004 but not in 2005 at psu). there's no way hawaii would play two consecutive weeks on the road in the preseason, with one trip somewhere in the middle to eastern US in order to mimic potential travel conditions come december. they already have a brutal travel schedule with the wac alone, having to travel thousands of miles to get to random places like reston, la. so why not stay in hawaii the whole preseason, polish things up a bit and worry about the travel thing later? i'm not arguing for this--i would love to see hawaii play in a tough preseason tournament on the road every year--but i can see why dave and co. schedule the way they do...
