Curious - where do Hawai'ians go for vacation? I infer reading in several threads that many VB posters who have never been to Hawaii see hawaii as a place with hardly anything to do except go to the beach. I will further promote that myth: To me everyday is like a vacation here. On weekends my wife and I go to the coves at Ko Olina, just 20 minutes away, southeast. Or to the North Shore to snorkle at Sharks' Cove. Again just 20 minutes away. Occasionally, I take my wife to Waikiki to be like tourists and dine there at sunset, afterwards we stroll on the beach. Sometimes we picnic at Makua beach at the Waianae Coast and watch the dolphines play with the swimmers in shallow waters. SOmetimes, especially when friends and relatives visit from the mainland, we take around the island trips stopping at beaches here and there along the way. Occasionally, about once a year we take take off to the neighbor isles and prance and dance in the sun there. About 3 times a year I go to Las Vegas to play blackjack, staying at the Fremont or California Hotel/Casino in Downtown where most Hawaiians go. The after 5 days in Vegas My wife and I start all over- Ko Olina Coves, Sharks' Cove, dining in Waikiki, etc.

Curious - where do Hawai'ians go for vacation? I lived in Hawaii long long time ago when I was a little boy. For vacation, we went to San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. All the usual spots -- Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Golden Gate Bridge, etc.
