Once again the Huskers brought out the best in other teams (and not so good), concerning attendance. Iowa St. had 2500 for their match...the highest ever. Colorado drew 4111 again the most in CU history. Missouri drew over 7000 last year and I think close to 6000 this year. And finally Texas had their highest attendance ever under Elliot.
What was most important is that all 3 of these teams played solid volleyball, which hopefully shows their fans that they have something worth following.
The one downside is that Cook said the NU players were complaining of some very bad behaviour at Iowa St.
"some of them said they were about ready to go up into the stands" For Christy Johnson's sake I hope this is taken care of. Once again the higher attendance comes as a double edge sword for visiting teams.
Positive: creates a great environment as opposed to the Huskers having to create their own energy.
Negative: a few new fans apparently think they are watching World Cup Soccer and have no respect for ladies
But overall its a good thing.

Are the students at the schools charged an admsission fee? if not they should be. If some of them want to act like asses, let them pay for it.

Nobody was charged admission. My guess is that there was a spillover effect from the Colorado football team winning their 2nd game of the year over Iowa St. Probably one of those "have a football ticket, get in free" type of deals. Not sure of that though. yep just as I suspected: from the CU website ON TAP: Colorado (14-9, 10-6 Big 12) will host #1 Nebraska (23-0, 15-0) on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Coors Events Center at 7 p.m. Youth in eighth grade or under will be admitted for $1 and admission will be free for those who show their Iowa State vs. Colorado Football ticket. There will also be a special autograph session following the match.

Mmmm.... as a former advertiser I think all these teams are going the correct way to build attendance. They are using the hype of playing NU to build numbers and hopefully hook some permanent volleyball fans. The down side?? Remember the CU- NU game last year?? jThats was Ugly!!!

"some of them said they were about ready to into the stands" Is there a missing word here? It doesnt seem to make sense as is... I would also guess its not "nebraska" that is bringing the fans out, it's "a top 5 team." Obviously, Nebraska is a top 5 team, so this is semi nitpicking, but if nebraska (or florida in the SEC's case) fell off the map, i don't think they would keep drawing the crowds... Also, some of it is the actions of the host school. Yes, some fans might see a high ranked team on the schedule and show up by themselves, but a lot of people show up to a big volleyball game because the marketing department of the home school puts more effort / money into promoting that game... Negative: a few new fans apparently think they are watching World Cup Soccer and have no respect for ladies Is it somehow more appropriate at a soccer game than a women's volleyball game?

Its nice to see another program trying to follow in Hawaii's footsteps for attendance, home and away.

"some of them said they were about ready to into the stands"
maybe this is why Nebraska has a few academic all-Americans... if I had this bad of grammar and could pass, I would have went there too.

Unruly fans is a part of sports. I'm not justifying it, but I really dont want to hear Cook complain. Calling the kettle black???

Cook has always said full stands are better than empty stands. Period. Fans come to see top notch teams, especially when they are within their conference. The Big 12 north schools rival Nebraska given our OLD football dominance, so part of it IS Nebraska when they come to play. In addition, KSU, Missouri, etc have had special nights geared towards Nebraska and keeping the "red" out, meaning the numerous fans who travel to these matches. Finally given the fact that with the exception of Missouri and KSU the rest of the Big 12 north squads have had very little if NO success against the Big Red. Now that there teams are doing better fans feel like they have a chance. Again, sorry to disagree but the draw is Nebraska.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Huskers have the most academic All-Americans over any other top 25 team.

Yes, Nebraska brings out big crowds on the road as do other top teams, which is a big reason I am frustrated at some top programs unwillingness to travel (out of conference) it is just great for the sport. Teams like Nebraska will always get their opponents biggest crowd, as well as their opponents best effort. The Nebrasaka loss at Colorado was only their 3rd conference road loss in the past 7 seasons, which is remarkable, whether you are an NU fan or not. And, yes, they do have more academic all-americans than any other college vb program. This is a product of having exceptional students, but equally their athletic depts, marketing and promoting of their student athletes.

Negative: a few new fans apparently think they are watching World Cup Soccer and have no respect for ladies. World Cup fans are tame compared to Basketball fans.......
