Hey do you Hawai'i fans think that 6'3 Amanda Simmons will redshirt next season or what? I truely feel that Hawai'i has too many players on their roster. I would say there is a good chance that Simmons will redshirt given Sanders, Mason and Thomas. And the fact that two of them will be Seniors next year... Since Kaufman was supposed to redshirt this year, does anyone think that she will redshirt next year instead? (Assuming all the hitters and back and healthy?) Mason is a senior this year.

I doubt that Kaufman will redshirt next season, by that time she's already ahead. I think she has that RS position locked down...what do you guys think? is she better than keefe on the RS? I honestly like Keefe on the right. She was a better blocker in my opinion. Amber's blocking still needs some work. Yeah Jessica wasn't that consistent offensively she was holding her own and pulled her weight. And Amber just looks out of place on the right. She looks really uncomfortable and awkward going up for a regular approach on the outside. She looks way more comfortable hitting the slide.

I meant to say Gregory.

Although I believe Keefe was doing well on the RS, I believe Amber Kaufman has really stepped in and stepped up after Keefe's injury. She must be a quick study as I understand she was a middle in high school and club ball. Her blocking this past match with New Mexico was great. It is really tough to guess what the Hawaii coaches may do with the roster next season as they do have so many options. I think a redshirt for Amanda Simmons is a given, and it will be interesting to see if Hawaii will redshirt Amber and play her in the middle in 2008. I think Amber will come out of this season really strong, and will enter next year even stronger and hungry to play.

Just get Amber out on the sand this spring and summer and she'll be fine at any position on the court. She's a quick learner, as most of us have seen, but still has a ways to go. Good, strong work ethic and her hunger to play and win are very evident with her and I'm sure she'll be ready to go in the fall.

But I would love to see Dave give Jessica Keefe her spot back because her injury was unfortunate and she was definitely a steady player there on the right for the Wahine. Kaufman will definitely get better and I'm sure she'll be a great one by the time she leaves UH, but she is a bit raw right now and she seems a bit awkward on her straight in approach.
