UNI drew 5500 fans for the opening of the new MacLeod Center last night, as they beat Bradley to win the MVC regular season championship. Story and pictures are all available at www.unipanthers.comIt looks like they honored the UNI members of the MVC "All Century Team" or whatever it was. The team included 7 former Cats, including Molly OBrien and Bobbi Petersen. The team coach is Iradge Ahrabi-Fahrd. It was a good day for all my teams yesterday. UNI football had a big win over Illinois St, UNI volleyball wins, Purdue football beat Indiana, Purdue volleyball won, and Iowa football lost. Can't ask for a more successful day.

The new digs are beautiful ....quite a night for the Panthers. They clinched the MVC and are now set for the conference tourney in Bloomington. The folks in Cedar Falls made the opening quite an event.
Rowan recordered her 1000 kill....congrats to her

It should be a good tournament, except for geeky ISU fans being there. On the good side, you can get good, cheap food from Avanti's within walking distance or a very short drive from Deadbird Arena. I wish UNI the best, but it would be great if the Valley could end up with two bids.

It should be a good tournament, except for geeky ISU fans being there. It's Thanksgiving, so there won't be as many. OTOH, I will be there most of the day on Friday, so I will make up for the missing geek factor. I should try to bring the laptop...

I see the Valley tournament championship game will be live on FCS Central Saturday night. I'm looking forward to watching that. This should be a great tournament.

And Illinois State makes it just a little more interesting by throwing the hat into their ring.

Yep, two good wins on the road for the Red Penguins to end the season.

5500 is great!!!
How many fans did USC for the opening of their new facility? 5,000?
Congrats to UNI for the great attendance, the great facility, and for winning the conference championship. Good luck in the conference tourney and, hopefully, the NCAA tourney.

Admittedly, they scheduled the volleyball match to start right after the end of the football game, and the Dome is right next door...

Admittedly, they scheduled the volleyball match to start right after the end of the football game, and the Dome is right next door... Good marketing! No different than those schools who schedule bball midnight madness right after a vball match.

Actually, very different. People who went to the volleyball game had to go there on purpose.
Yes, they made it convenient to go, but it's not the same as people who went to watch midnight madness, and, obtw, there was a volleyball match first. No, this was, hey, after the football game, stop by the new MacLeod center and watch volleyball!
