Pavan Earns Big 12 Honor Courtesy: NU Media Relations Courtesy: Scott Bruhn/NU Media Relations Sarah Pavan was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday. Irving, Texas- University of Nebraska right side hitter Sarah Pavan was honored by the conference office Monday, as she was selected the Big 12’s Player of the Week for Nov. 13-19. The selection marks the second time this season and the fifth time in her career that Pavan has earned the Big 12’s weekly honor. The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, Pavan averaged 7.67 kills on .557 hitting, 1.17 service aces and 1.67 digs per game in sweeps of Texas A&M and Baylor. Pavan recorded 23 kills and hit over .500 in both matches last week, recording her sixth and seventh 20-kill efforts of the year. Against Texas A&M, Pavan recorded a match-high 23 kills along with a .588 hitting percentage and three aces before totaling 23 kills on .528 hitting with a career-high four aces, eight digs and two blocks against Baylor. It marks the second time in Pavan's career that she has hit at .500 or better in two straight matches, while her .588 hitting clip against A&M was her second-highest total of 2006. With the two wins, the Huskers clinched at least a share of the Big 12 title. NU has won six of the last seven championships and nine of 11 in Big 12 play. The Huskers return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 22, as they travel to Lawrence, Kan., to take on the Jayhawks. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
