Just curious, what happens when you lose all season? Arizona is not use to it, but it happened. This will be the 1st time in a long time UA hasn't made it to the tournament. What will Rubio do? Do they move on, does this hurt their recruiting? Does he lose his job? What about Oregon State. They didn't win one Pac-10 game all season. They use to beat Oregon, now Oregon will make the tournament. WSU? they had like 400 people at their ASU match and they use to have 2,000.
What happens to these programs when they use to be really good, and then fell off. How do they bounce back. How hard does the coach take it? Just curious. I know it gets better, because Dave made a bad program great once before.

Arizona is playing some very good ball right now. I know some will say it's a little too late, but hey why not go out strong.
They'll be back in the run for the Pac very early next year. You heard it from me first!
p.s. some teams are very lucky they're not making the playoffs!

Dont be so fast to fire the coach. Transition periods happen, and teenage girls are unpredictable. You have to see if the team is consistently going downhill for several years before making that call, in my opinion.

I have to wonder what is going to happen to Katie @ IU after this season. She's great and all, but after a 2-18 conference season last year and almost certain 1-19 this year... I mean, c'mon. IU's a good school, has a lot to offer, maybe not the greatest facilities, but still - they shouldn't be bringing up the rear of the B10 year after year. They last made the tournament in 2002 - that's not _that_ long ago.
I'm not one for hoping someone loses his or her job, but what else could possibly happen?

Blame the administration ;D Isn't IU sitting with a lot of newcomers in the last couple of years? ISTR they had something like 8 new people last year. I urge patience.

I'm sure Arizona will use December wisely to plan the Xs and Os for the next season.

Rubio isn't looking great at this point. They were good last year, keeping Glass and company from looking like big time underachievers, but the year before that, they barely made the NCAAs and lost in the first round. They have been really inconsistent since 2001, and that might not change next year, either.

A new coach means fresh recruiting strategies. Why keep beating a dead horse (not to compare the volleyball team to that, beause they are all solid players that lack guidance and unity) when you have the means to get a new one?

Arizona is just one top-notch setter away from being a consistent Sweet-16 team and making another run at the FinalFour over the next few years.

Arizona is paying the price this season for the recruiting mistakes of the past few years. Many of the highly touted players they recruited haven't panned out as the coaching staff had hoped.

Arizona did underchieve even last season. Sure they made it to the Elite 8, but they could have easily have gone further. And they weren't much of a factor in conference play. Rubio has to take some fault for their lack of success.

If numerous highly touted recruits don't pan out, is it really that they didn't pan out or that the coaches didn't do a good job of helping them improve?

I remember hearing a claim that Stephanie Butkus was probably the second best setter in the Pac-10 this season after Courtney Thompson. Better than (let's say) Spicer, Kehoe, Carter, or Carico. The claim was that it was her hitters who weren't getting it done. Of course I couldn't stop laughing.
