30-27, 30-18, 30-22.
MSU 's Schatzle had 22 kills, while UM's Katie B. had 8.

Tough loss for Michigan. I don't like their chances to make the tournament. That early season loss to the Hoosiers has come back to roost.

I'm surprised MSU swept, King had 12 kills, hitting .524. Whitney Tremain has become a regular part of the MSU lineup, replacing McDaniel and Nelson. Tremain has been struggling offensively, but her blocking has been really good. That is making a difference for MSU. I think this match put MSU into the tourney.
I'm still not sure about Michigan, they had some good wins (Minnesota, Purdue) and some bad losses (Indiana).

Michigan is in. They are 21-11 and have wins over Iowa State, #15 San Diego, Minnesota and Purdue. Their RPI is around 20. I will agree the loss at home to IU could be the worst loss in Michigan History.

I'm searching....I liked my original, which unfortunately became politically incorrect in these times and all. An explosive Barbie just isn't cool anymore.

Barbie was never cool. I witnessed her infidelity many times over when I was a kid. Every now and then, when Ken left for work in his sports car, GI Joe (with the fuzzy beard) would show up to keep Barbie company.

Barbie and Joe were just friends.....GI Joe was actually more interested in Barbie's friend, Midge. Besides, Joe could never stand all the pink.......

I'm still not sure about Michigan, they had some good wins (Minnesota, Purdue) and some bad losses (Indiana). That's _one_ bad loss, not some. Moreover, compare it to the alternatives. Pretty much all of the other teams bandied about have equally bad losses, and none of them have 4 such quality wins (including two in the non-conference schedule - those are huge!) Compare Michigan to, for example, UNI, the team in the Valley with the best chance for an at-large. UNI's quality wins are Notre Dame, Alabama, and Clemson, and has a loss to Kansas St, an IU equivalent. There is no comparison at all. Not only is Michigan in, they aren't even near the bubble. THere will be probably a half a dozen at large teams below them yet. We aren't talking a non-conference schedule like Baylor here. Michigan's wasn't the greatest of all time, but it was far from a weakling schedule. And outside of that match against IU, they have done decently in the conference, pulling a couple of upsets. In a year where the at-large pool is relatively weak, Michigan stands heads and shoulders above most bubble teams.

If Michigan loses at Iowa that would make two bad losses and a very unimpressive 7-13 conference record. They'd probably still get in but they would be in jeopardy if that happens.

The committee does not consider conference record in selections.
If Mich lost to Iowa, they would be 20- 12 overall, with wins against Iowa St, San Diego, Minnesota, and Purdue.
Again, compare that to alternatives, and it still isn't close.
