The Warriors defeat UCI tonight 30-27, 30-17, 30-24. UC Irvine just didn't play a good match tonight at all, they gave the Warriors have their points off hitting and serving errors.
It wasn't an outstanding performance by the Warriors either. They played a great match, but no where in the vicinity they need to be in to achieve their ultimate goal of playing at home for the final four.
Pedro Azenha and Matt Bender led the Warriors once again.
The Warriors will be honoring their five seniors tomorrow night.

I just don't understand why Delano was warming the bench. Is it because Woodward is a better passer?

Warriors Sweep Anteaters, 3-0 Box Score
HONOLULU -With a team high 16 kills sophomore Pedro Azenha led the Warrior volleyball team in their 3-0 win over the visiting Anteaters of UC Irvine. Riddled with service aces (22), the Anteaters were unable to stop the Warriors from improving their record to 16-9, 12-7 MPSF. In addition UCI now drops to 11-17, 5-14 MPSF.
Besides his 16 kills, Azenha also recorded one service ace, four digs, and three blocks. Current MPSF Player of the Week Matt Bender followed up with 10 kills, four digs and three blocks. Setter Kimo Tuyay dished up 30 assists, while Ryan Woodward led the team in digs with six. On defense the Warriors were led by Mauli`a LaBarre who had one solo block and five block assists for the match. The Warriors put up 10.5 blocks to the Anteater's five.
The Anteaters jumped to an early, but short-lived 3-1 lead to start the match. Hawai`i quickly responded by scoring nine of the next 11 points to take a commanding 10-5 lead. With a comfortable lead the Warriors dominated for most of the game, but UCI crawled to within two before Hawai`i took game one, 30-27.
Game two started close with UCI leading 4-3 to start. But the Warriors kicked things into high gear and snatched 12 of the subsequent 15 points to give them a commanding 15-7 lead at the mid game time out. Hawai`i would allow the Anteaters only 10 more points before a service error from Jimmy Pelzel gave the Warriors a 30-17 win and a 2-0 advantage in the match.
UCI came out swinging in game three, determined not to be swept they took a 9-5 lead early in the game. But the Warriors, just as determined to come away with the 3-0 win, muscled their way back to take a 2 point lead at mid game. The Warriors managed to hold on to their lead for the rest of the game before a UCI service error gave Hawai`i the win, 30-25 and the match, 3-0.
Tomorrow night the Warriors will again face the Anteaters in their final regular home match of the season at 7:00 pm at the Stan Sheriff Center. Warrior seniors Ryan Woodward, Arri Jeschke, Josh Stanhiser, Jake Muise, and Kimo Tuyay will be honored in a ceremony following the match.

Oh come on!! Relax...years from now, they will be laughing too. If they even remember it.
This is news...widely talked about. I think it is refreshing. Remember..all pub is good--just spell the name right.
Besides...we can't talk about the cheating BYU program ALL the time.

Good win for the Warriors, and good job to Pedro... yeah why didnt Delano start?? It stated in the Honolulu Advertiser, that Azenha got the knod to start because he was passing better than Thomas. I truly think that Thomas is a liability as a passer. Wilton also said that Azenha stayed after practice to work on his passing, and I think Azenha did a great job passing last night.
