To say that we were surprised, pleasantly surprised, would be an understatement.....This will be a highly competitive set of first round matches.....I figured that Hawaii would travel and they are but traveling to Long Beach is a good thing for them as they have many fans in the So. Cal area....Oregon is a legitimate team and Pepperdine can beat just about anyone on a given night....this will be very good volleyball and the crowd will be, perhaps, the largest opening weekend crowd just about anywhere in the tournament! The road to Hawaii is through Long Beach this year

Sadly, Peppy will hand LBSU another first round loss. Hope that won't be the case because I would love to see Hawaii vs. LBSU at the Pyramid, where, incidentally, Hawaii hasn't been too successful. I think there was a 15-0 game loss (forgot the other game scores) in 1997 when Sudduth was a freshman and Cheryl Weaver was on a LBSU recruiting trip. Very embarrassing loss by the Wahine.

Hawaii will be exposed in these matchups. The Pyramid is a funky place to play, and because of the weird lighting, if your team is prone to passing breakdowns you will be in serious trouble. I don't believe the Wahine have beaten anyone good away from the friendly confines of the Sheriff Center. Look for a Hawaii shankfest to take place.

Do you think the Beach network will shake Elise Duggins's hands after the match (if they ever meet, that is)?

Hawai'i will be fine. Every year there is at least one moron who ends up eating crow by underestimating Hawaii's ability to win, anywhere. Might want to ask Texas fans how crow tastes.

I was the first to say that Hawaii got screwed last year by being sent to Texas, and was glad they took out the Longhorns. I'm just sayin, the fact that Hawaii hasn't won tough matches this year away from home will hurt them. I've eaten crow before, and its really not too bad if you dress it up with a nice cream sauce. (Actually compares quite favorably with poi) Good luck Wahine fans (you'll need it).

Do you think the Beach network will shake Elise Duggins's hands after the match (if they ever meet, that is)? I think that Elise will be just fine......don't think that there are near the hard feelings with her as there were with a couple others who departed last year.....

Er.....YES It's called tongue in cheek, Beachman.......as opposed to the usual foot in mouth that you are familiar with.
