I think this year most of the top 10 teams are pretty closed to each other and any could win it all if they get hot or catch the teams they play a bit off. I think the Huskers have the best chance of any of them to win it all, however, since there are so many teams that could win it, the odds are really against them to do it. According to Pablo's odds, Nebraska is about a 61 out of 100 chance to get to Omaha. Stanford is about 53 and Penn State is about 49. That is the closest I think I have seen it.

I don't think so for a lot of little reasons, the biggest being strength of schedule. Also, having a freshman setter (I know, Stanford won with Kehoe as a freshman, but that's the exception, not the norm) and the melt down against an unranked opponent. I agree with those that say "too much Pac 10."

With the loss of Elmer, Sale, and Houghtelling,....Husker fans certainly didn't expect to remain #1 for the duration of the season. This team continues to defy the odds this year. Many on this board have stated that it would be a disappointment if they did not win once in Omaha. Really? What other team could loose that kind of leadership and then be expected to win the championship? If they make it through the Florida Regional, in my opinion the rest is just gravy.

I think that Stanford will win it all this year. Everybody keeps saying that the pac 10 is very inconsistent. yeah they are when they play other pac 10 teams, In the end though I think that Stanford will prevail. I really do think that this is Nebraska year to win cause even with Houghtelling coming back next year the talent pool will be even better for other programs. But they might have to go through UCLA and Stanford to do it

Was a little mystified when Nebraska rated #1 after losing Houghtelling, which means three All Americans gone. One good reason is that if you say #1 is the most likely to win the championship, that team is clearly Nebraska. Stanford and Penn State did the Omaha "experience" at the AVCA last year, as did Hawaii, so they are the least llikely to be intimidated by 17,000 fans, or whatever. But Penn State has a freshman setter and may not survive Washington. If Stanford can get through I think they will play well and have a chance. Could be outplayed, though, as Nebraska should be ready to play wll this year in the finals.

I am also taking the side of anything past the Gainesville Regional is just icing on the cake. My hope for winning it all this year went out with Houghtelling's injury. But this team came together and had a wonderful season. All I want for them and especially for our 2 seniors who both hail from eastern Nebraska, (the Dani's), is for them to be able to compete in front of 17,000+ in Omaha. After that all bets are off and may the best team win.
Just get to Omaha, Huskers!

Maybe Texas and Stanford.

Nebraska could take it. But with so mamy great teams out there, I smell an upset in the FF

I think UCLA might have a surprise in store for the Huskers.

I find it interesting so much of the season was spent putting down Nebraska and how overrated they were. Now that the tourney is upon us, you hear a lot "they have no excuses this year" and if they don't win it will be an incredible underachievement...blah blah. If they make out of the Florida Regional, I will be estatic! IF they get to Omaha, then yes they do have a slight edge when it comes to the intangibles. But if the expected teams, i.e Stanford, Washington (who traveled all last year), Penn St. or UCLA make it, they won't be fazed. Especially 3/4 since they were just there last year either in the AVCA or the Regionals.

I think we knew last year though that the next 3 years were gonna be pretty fun to watch. I do not think anyone can match the talent pool that Nebraska will have next year. Houghtelling, Pavan. Larson. Stalls, and Holloway. Maybe Texas and Stanford.
