I'm wondering: how do visiting teams get to San Luis Obispo?
I know some (if not all) the Big West teams take the bus. Of course, I drive.
How about those from waaaay out of town? Do they fly in to San Jose and then take the 3-hr bus ride (or a bunch of rental cars?) down south to SLO? Or, do they use the local airport at San Luis Obispo airport (expensive and limited flights, btw)?

My recommendation to all those who are bound for SLOtown would be to land in Bakersfield, then they can drive through Cholame and pay their respects to the legendary James Dean. Consider the Bakersfield part as an added bonus. If you are not a fan of the 'rebel', then just remember, the road to the final four in the Texas regionals runs right over Cal Poly.

Most of my relatives that live in that area, fly in and out of Los Angeles. They drive the distance to save money.

Flights into Santa Barbara are frequent – Direct flights from Denver to Santa Barbara – Less expensive route is to fly in and out of LAX and rent a car. It is a nice drive up the coast on Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway – PCH), use a map to cut over to the 101 (Ventura Highway) around Point Mugu.
