i would have replied in the "miva confusion thread, but it had no reply button... so to continue off of that thread,
i know it doesn't mean much about now, seeing as how the confrence tourny will be held at Ohio State OR Ball State...but assuming that BSU loses and Loyoa beats Lewis on wednesday (they beat them in 3 in feb) then that would make a tie between Loyoa and BSU and IPFW for 2nd, and loyola would win the tie breaker because they beat them in 3 and 4 and lost in 4 and 5...................

Sorry bout the no reply button. Thank you for the explanation. I do however believe that Lewis will be successful over Loyola on Wednesday in Romeoville. (It should be a good match) That's why I was trying to figure out the tie breaker between Lewis, IPFW, and Ball State if OSU wins out.

yeah, it should be a good match, but another side note, loyola has won 9 out of its last 10 matches and is on a 6 game win streak, don't count them out so soon.

Under this scenerio, IPFW is definitely the odd man out so to speak, they would finish fourth. However, if Ohio State wins and Loyola loses, then it would be a three way tie between BS, Lewis and IPFW and IPFW wins that tie-break (as stated in the Lewis article after they beat BS). BS would be third and Lewis fourth. Scenerio #3 - Ball State and Loyola win, three way tie between OS, IPFW and Loyola. Ohio State wins the tie- break with IPFW third and Loyola fourth. Scenerio #4 - Ball State and Lewis win, three way tie between OS, IPFW and Lewis. IPFW wins the tie-break with OS third and Lewis fourth. That's how I understand it based on games won/lost between the teams that are tied. If I'm wrong, please (I know you'll be glad to) let me know!!!

Your logic in the various scenarios seems appropriate. Thanks for the clarification. I better find that root beer float the benwhipped is always talking about.

in scenario 3 in which ball state and loyola win ohio state would be 2nd, loyola 3rd, and ipfw fourth, loyola lost to ipfw in 5 and beat them in 3 giving them the tiebreaker.

this will be very interesting after this week, i too love this game. as you should be able to tell, i support loyola, so here is another little bit of info in favor of loyola, they have two very good jump servers, Kozlarek, and Alesch...they Kozlarek with 49 aces on the season so far and alesch with 47. they should make it kind of tough for lewis on wednesday night. i did a little research and they both, this year, have surpassed Justin Schnor's single season record at loyola of 42 service aces. now it looks like they are battling to be at the top of thier record books at loyola. good luck to them and good luck to Loyola

in scenario 3 in which ball state and loyola win ohio state would be 2nd, loyola 3rd, and ipfw fourth, loyola lost to ipfw in 5 and beat them in 3 giving them the tiebreaker. It's my understanding that the tie-breaker is games won against each other for the three in the tie. If that is the case, OS is second with a 10-8 record, IPFW would be third with a 10-9 and Loyola is fourth with an 8-9 record. You don't just consider the head-to-head against each other. The difference here for Loyola is that they lost two against OS, whereas IPFW split with both OS and Loyola. It's the same problem IPFW has in the first scenerio. They lost twice to Ball State, whereas Loyola split with them.

Right now I'm wondering who will be hosting the championship. It's between Ball State and Ohio. If Ball state host, that will be a big boost for the program that was in so much trouble this past year. If Ohio hosts, I can't go (please insert a whine here).
No matter what, these teams are fairly evenly matches, that games should be great competition. Is it just a matter of seeing who wins the Ball STate Ohio State game??? I mean I think it is, but I could be wrong.
And what the heck happened to Roofan...I mean, I'm not missing him, but just wondering.

"If Ohio hosts, I can't go (please insert a whine here). " Would you like some cheese to go with that whine? ;D Or maybe a root beer float? Just joking . . . I know how you feel. It is nice when the playoffs, or any good match, is close enough to attend. It sucks when you cannot go see the good game.

Whoever wins hosts barring an upset from one of the lower teams (which almost happened on Sat. night). Can't believe you don't miss Roofan! ;D Last I heard, he was bogged down with work stuff (bummer). I actually have missed his input on a couple of things.

If OHio does host, do they have a internet radio connection? Or is that CSTV possibly going to be broadcasting?
