I was just looking at the 2004 Gold medal match where China came back from being down 2-0 to win the gold medal. The NBC really focused on on Kapol during time outs etc. I am guessing that he retired but what is he doing now? If he is going to write a volleyball book, I would like to get a hold of a copy.
Also what is Jeri Estes doing? I found it interesting that the NBC guys kept mentioning the other assistant but never mentioned Jeri by name during the entire two week coverage.

Karpol is coaching his club team, Uralochka again. He was supposed to retire completely from coaching, but he just quit coaching the NT. His book is available in english, but I can't seem to locate one on the web. It's very interesting. It doesn't give specific drills or systems, but it sheds light on his philosophies and principles. I'll keep looking. Don't know where Estes is now. I think he was with Volero as late as last year. I think his wife is playing in Japan so maybe he's there. Edit: I haven't had any success finding a place to buy Karpol's book. Here is a link to a review but the email link and the link to the book's website no longer work. www.volleyballnewsletter.com/reports/karpol.htmIf you want the book, I'd try emailing Karpol's club and asking about it. uralochkae@mail.ru I think the book was published in croatian and english - make sure they send you the right one!

I actually have a copy of the book. It is actually a biography of Karpol and not actually written by him. The writer was a little obsequious. It does give pretty good insight into his madness, but it wasn't very technical.
I am also looking for any volleyball literature pertaining to training from Europe, Japan, China, Cuba, south america etc. Any ideas?

Sorry, but I couldn't find any reference that the author is Bulgarian...The name doesn't sound familiar, at least it is not among the ones that I know (I do not claim I know everyone). Even though the author's name is definitely Slavic, it isn't a common BUL one - most likely it is RUS or UKR (less likely Serbian or Czech). The BUL version should be ZhelezKOV instead of Zhelezniak. BTW Zhelezniak means "Iron man" (zhelezo=iron) ;D
