Just heard that Dunbar is hiring David Jack as one of her assistants. Can someone tell me what qualifies him to be a Big Ten assistant? Is it his extensive work with LIBA? His years with the Jamaican National Team? The fact that his wife is an assistant women's basketball coach at IU?

What I can tell you as a fellow DI coach, is that if I were at Indiana, he would be a no brainer. She has her recruiter and he is an unbelievable trainer.
Anyone that knows David would echo the same thing. Talking with another DI head coach who had a friend interested in the position, said as soon as I mentioned David's name "well, if I were her, I would hire him first as well".
As an aside - David Jack may be the hardest hitting player I have ever played against.

Who has he trained? Where is the evidence of this training prowess?

Great guy, great player. I am not saying he can't train, but there is absolutely no evidence that say's he can. His wife is the womens basketball coach at IU, i'm sure that the admin asked that he be interviewed, that happens all the time. David very well may do a great job, but in the end Dunbar is not anywhere in the coaching category as the top teams in the Big Ten, and I would have gone out of my way to attract an experienced asst with strong ties to clubs in Indiana and the midwest. I think they may be in over their head.

He's not even from Indiana, and has never run a college program or worked for one. Should you even be on the committee if you're a potential hire for the eventual coach?

Aloha Mr. Hand. If that is true, we know all we need to know about IU and womens volleyball. IU is a great school, in a great conference, a great campus, in a great state for prep volleyball and they hired Sheery Dunbar. I like Sherry, but that just doesn't add up for me.

I'm naturally inclined to assume that you're stoned, but your common sense tells me otherwise.
Aloha.

David Jack was not on the selection committee.
He is a great trainer, I don't know how good of a coach he is. He is in Bloomington and Dunbar would be wasting a great resource in her own back yard if she didn't put him on her staff,... on the other hand, he doesn't have a college degree, which is required for all IU coaching positions.
