Jibber says Laura Holloway is headed out West to become a Bruin, any truth to this?

She is very good friends with Nellie Spicer, so that wouldn't be a stretch. Same high school and club team for those 2. Looking at the roster, it's unlikely she'd see the court for any significant amount of playing time.

I hope Laura does head out to UCLA. She is quite an athlete and I believe she could break the starting lineup as a Bruin.

I have not seen her play since her HS days. She & Spicer are good friends and would have fun practicing and going to school together. That might be enough to make the switch. I don't see Holloway getting any playing time with Penn States current OH lineup/

I think at UCLA she'll have a much better chance of playing.

Laura Holloway was the Gatorade POY for Illinios, she was selected over Nellie Spicer so she should be pretty good, she was ranked 16th by PV, sandwiched between 2 current Bruins, Daley was 15th and Sather was 17th, if she does transfer, UCLA will have a strong junior class.

I don't see Holloway getting any playing time with Penn States current OH lineup/ In ways, I agree that the UCLA outsides are not very strong. As hitters, they are not some of the top hitters in the country. Part of what has made them look really good is that they had Meriwether in 3 rotations. Meriwether was such a threat that blockers needed to respect her as a hitter so the outsides had a lot of one on one looks. Credit also has to go to Spicer for running that offense. However, last year, UCLA was fairly deep in the outside hitter position and all of them have very good volleyball IQs. They were all very good all around players. They pass well, defend well, not a real liability at the net. There isn't a real weakness aside from the fact that no one is a real dominating outside who can take over a match. However, 2 starting outsides in Sather and Daley were only sophomores. But to pull this back on topic, Holloway would be a good addition to the Bruins. And I agree with BeiBei that if this does happen, UCLA could have that huge outside hitter punch in 2008 when they could have 3 senior outside hitters and a senior setter.

I;m not so sure that Nellie and Laura are the best of friends as someone had posted. I have been around them and from my impression they were the opposite of friends. True they went to high school together and won the JOs 18 twice at SPRI, but I'm not sure they see it that way. Maybe they have changed. Girls in high school change how they feel about each other every 23 minuets so whatever.
I hope Laura gets out of PSU, she is better than the two OH at UCLA. Great powerful outside hitter.

If she does move to UCLA, it will be very good for them, as tyorder1 said that she's a powerful outside hitter. With Katie Carter gone, they will need a power hitter in that team.

She is in a interesting situation, At PSU, she will not beat out Hodge and Fawcett yet her only competitor for the last OH position is Price though Price is no slouch
At UCLA she will have many competition for the 3 OH spots. Daley, Sather, Mehring, McGraw, Clements and possibly Rachell Johnson but she could have the talent to beat out most of them. While Daley and Sather are returning starters, Holloway played with Spicer before so she could fit in easily

only competitor Price? Blair Brown will be a force, would have started this year if not injured through October. PSU is very high on Brown, as they should be.
