Matt Zbyszewski, a 6-4 junior opposite (Toronto, Canada/Martingrove High School) for IPFW (14-10, 12-4), has been chosen the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. Zbyszewski had 23 kills (.288), 10 digs, six ace serves, five assist blocks and one assist in the 3-2 (24-30, 35-33, 30-21, 17-30, 15-11) loss at Penn State. In the 3-0 (30-28, 30-26, 32-30) win at Mercyhurst, he produced 11 kills (.318), two block assists and one dig. On the weekend, Zbyszewski averaged 4.25 kills (34) per game while hitting .303. He had a 1.38 digs per game average on 11 digs and averaged .87 blocks and .75 aces per game. Zbyszewski averaged 7.38 points per game for the weekend. In the final conference statistics for the MIVA, Zbyszewski ranks first in points (6.69), kills (5.52) and ace serves (.58) per game. In the national statistics from last week, his 6.80 kills and 5.74 kills per game leads the nation and he was tied for fourth nationally in aces per game at .500.

Well seems like Kowal sealed EIVA POY long ago, I think this just about seals the MIVA POY

After the strong start he had Matty had the inside track pretty much the whole year. He maintained his high level of play, and it would be a shocker to me to see someone else get it.

I'd have to agree and it would be nice to see Davis get the MIVA Coach of the Year. He's done a nice job.

Although I do like Schunzle for POY, Matt can start dusting off a spot on his shelf in his dorm room for that trophy.
