I am not sure if Kelly is still interested in walking on to play for Mike. A few years back she told me she would love to play for Mike. She realizes she might not see a minute on the court, but she seems to have much respect and admiration for him and the volleyball program. She thought it would be great just to practice and be a part of the program.
I hope she heals quickly. Quite a bummer. Especially her senior year, she was just three points away from hitting 1000 in her career the night she was injured. I have a lot of respect for Kelly. This past off season had to be quite terrible for her. But yet she stayed with the program, and has been a great model for the very young bball team.
She is also a great golfer. Went to state for golf as well. I think she was second in state one year. Was a five time state champion between vb and bb. Great athlete.
speaking of two sport collegiate athletes what happened to Candace Wiggins. I know she is still playing bball for Stanford, but was volleyball just too much? Did she play at all for Stanford VB? I

Candice never actually played volleyball. She was on the team but never saw the court. I'm sure Tara made sure she had to choose.

You're talking about Pavan's younger sister right?

She's an 08. Who knows what anyone's talking about. I don't even know what I'm talking about.

Thanks Ruffda. I just looked at the Gopher roster - odd that there would be such dramatic differences in each class. Next fall - one senior and on sophomore (scholarship players). Why is that? Just weird stuff. Bratford redshirted. Brafford left. Freiborg left. Jackson's apparently gone. Florian had a spot and then decided to retire. Pavan and Hodge both committed really late in the process, which had domino effects. They've been giving single year scholarships, I think. I'm trying to figure out where it all started, but I'm drawing a blank. I guess most of it does back to 2004, when Jones was the only commitment -- and Jackson was added much later after Pavan committed to Nebraska. Then Jackson redshirted. Didn't the imbalance in recruiting classes sizes start pretty much the first year that Mike could recruit after signing on as the Gopher head coach? I think they had 8 new player (6 of which were frosh) for the 1997 season then it started balancing out a bit after that with scholarships opening up due to injuries and the like. Tanya Dulder rarely played her first year because of shoulder problems and didn't return for her second year? Sonja Posthuma was only with the team a couple of years. Erica Glaser didn't last all 4 years because of knee problems. Heather Baxter might have lasted for 3 years? Nicole Branagh started and played all 4 years. Lisa Aschenbrenner lasted all 4 years but didn't seem to be healthy for the entire season for any of her years as a Gopher. Linda Shudlick transfer from UCLA to the Gophers for the 1997 season. I believe she injured her knee during the spring of 1998 which lead to the Gophers signing Stephanie Hagen from the collapsing Iowa State team that released their head coach and allowed their players to transfer if they desired. Was Becky Jakala the 8th new player for 1997 - I think she transfered as well.

Kyla Roehrig probably has that disctinction, at 6'4" -- although I've heard 6'5", too.

Snickers, whose your source? Only time will tell. My source is my faith in the Gopher Gods. I'm just hoping for the best, and simply hoping that she is as good as touted if she ends up here.

How tall was Anna Reines? I forget. Was she 7'6"? Maybe I'm thinking of Kelli Wicks.

Did the Kennedy girl play at UW or Minnesota? Wasn't she real tall?

Eunice?
Kelly played at Wisconsin. Nicole Branagh introduced her to me at an AVCA Convention, saying I was a Gopher fan. She, Kelly, threatened me. I think she was joking. But at what I'd guess to be 6'4", she was tall enough for me to back away slowly.

If Jones is the only senior on the roster (scholarship), does that mean Minnesota is done with their 08 recruiting class by receiving the commitment from Blatt? And all this talk about Jackson being hurt. How does she get hurt if she never plays?
