If Jones is the only senior on the roster (scholarship), does that mean Minnesota is done with their 08 recruiting class by receiving the commitment from Blatt? And all this talk about Jackson being hurt. How does she get hurt if she never plays? I don't know the story about Jackson, so I won't comment on that other than the injuries are practice/training-related I believe. As for recruits, no, Minnesota is not done with 2008: Jones (SR) Roehrig (JR) Vatterrodt (JR) Schmidt (JR) Hartmann (JR) Hagerty (SO) Gibbemeyer (FR) Cowles (FR) Dieter (FR) Phillips (FR) That's 10. They may be giving Tan a scholarship for 2007 (and she may have had one for 2006?). But that's still only 11 for 2007, and Blatt for Jones makes it 11 for 2008.

How will the loss of Dave Boos affect the recruiting wars for Minnesota? It seemed as if he was the recruiting face for the Gophers. Also, with a couple of schollies available, is Minnesota looking for another transfer?

Candice never actually played volleyball. She was on the team but never saw the court. I'm sure Tara made sure she had to choose. Tara allowed Candice to redshirt in VB as a freshman if she agreed to leave the team when BB practice opened. If Candice has a realistic chance of playing for USA Basketball in Beijing in 2008... as Kristin Folkl did for USA Volleyball in Atlanta in 1996... she might skip a season of basketball to train and play at that level, as Kristin did (in BB) in 1995-1996.

We need a special penalty for not only being off topic, but being off the off topic topic.

That's outrageous! If you go to any cocktail party, no one really ever stays on topic. Visiting VT is like visiting a perpetually ongoing cocktail party.

Has anyone ever actually been to a cocktail party? Not me. I've never been invited to a party, period. But howzabout you socialites? And how does one define it?

As for the other scholarship, Kelly Fallon was awarded one of the vacated scholarships for this semester. which might indicate that she is the favored DS for next year, which was widely speculated on this board previously.....unless our super frosh take over....

But it might just be that she was the walk-on that committed first so she gets the first scholarship.

The line judge? I forget.
Meghan was co-MVP of the Gophers, btw -- and won the Gold Country Award for highest GPA in the Fall Semester.
[Meghan. Sorry.]
