I think she has a great shot with 2nd place being up for grabs at the beach. If she and McPeak do not qualify, is it possible the indoor team can give her a spot on the roster anyways?

Will she still play indoor overseas next offseason? As good as she is, it will be hard to improve as much as the others who spend the entire year playing beach. I hope she does well enough. The few times I've met her she was real nice and Holly is such an inspiration.

Given the state of the indoor national team, perhaps beach vball offers higher prospects of competing for a medal.
What I am looking forward this season is April Ross on the beach. She isn't playing indoors in PR league and last I read, she was competing in some Challengers' beach vball circuit, so hopefully she'll be improved by the time the AVP season starts.

I don't think this is the best decision for Logan. I really see her being more of the defensive player with lots of swings. Would think her best chance would be with EY, although I'm not a fan of EY. That would be a heck of a team to put up a challenge against Misty/Kerri.

I think its a smart move for both players. McPeak needs a solid all-around player to compliment her and is a great coach on the court. Tom has a pretty amazing volleyball repertoire, but needs some beach fine-tuning.
While they might have trouble against Misty/Kerri... who hasn't? I think internationally and within the AVP tour, this could become a very competitive duo.

I don't think there is any way Logan will quit playing professional indoor volleyball..... she makes too much money doing it! I seriously doubt she can make as much money this year on the beach.
I hope Logan is not done with the national team. The team is really not THAT bad. They are taking sets and playing some competitive matches with the best teams in the world. The biggest weakness (and it is a HUGE weakness) is the second outsite hitter position. If Logan were to join the team for the '08 games, I think USA has about as good a shot at medaling as anyone else.
That said, she could become a beach star. I'm sure she is keeping all her options open. Best of luck to Tom and Mcpeak.

While I McPeak may be one of the most experienced vets around I am convinced that her days on the beach are limited. She is undersized and the top teams in the world no longer utilize 1 big player 1 defensive player schemes. Thats what makes Walsh/May such a threat because they can both kill the ball. I just watched Rachel Wacholder/Walsh play in the Queen of the beach tournament here in Brazil, and the Brazilian teams are much improved and handily beat Walsh/Wachholder. If Tom'/McPeak qualify all themore good for them, but I just don't think you can win a gold medal at the Olympics when they are serving McPeack consistently. ALl the best to them though.

First of all, I'll support her wherever she goes!! I hope she will come back to indoor, and improve some skills with beach this summer. Her receiving, jump serving, passing and attacking every skill is the greatest player. I think the USA team needs good receiver!!! I'm wondering if she wants to play beach, she should has a practice in beach all season. But she is now playing Spain top league..... I love TOM!! tom.neptune.cc/list/list.cgi

Tom doesn't get to write her own ticket on the beach just because of her previous indoor accolades.
It makes sense for Tom (who is new and doesn't have a significant tour rating on the AVP) to partner with McPeak (who, although past her prime still carries a high rating and a good seed into the main tournament draw) because it's a free ticket into a decent main draw seed.
McPeak has shown that she can take a tour rookie with exceptional talent and mold her quickly into a top player, as demonstrated when the McPeak/May partnership got them to Sydney in 2000. Whether or not McPeak can do this again with Tom remains to be seen, as May was a much more experienced beach player before she ever joined the pro tour than Logan Tom, who comes primarily from an indoor background.
In the Tom/McPeak partnership, you obviously have two careers going in opposite directions. McPeak is well past her prime and probably doesn't have too many years left competing. Tom is at her physical peak and probably has a good beach career ahead of her. McPeak will get the majority of the serves in this partnership, which is actually a good thing for Tom, as she needs the most work in her beach game on everything other than passing/hitting. It will improve her beach setting playing with McPeak. It will also hurt her defensively playing with McPeak, as she will get very little touches playing defense as she will probably be blocking full-time with McPeak playing defense behind her.

If Keri or Misty wants to expand their fanbase and boost their celebrityhood, they should get on "Dancing with the Stars." I'm sure their athleticism (and male dance partners/instructors) will carry them far. Or a Playboy spread. Sadly, that's what it takes these days.

This is a very smart move by both of these players. Tom could learn a lot from McPeak and McPeak needs a partner who possesses great potential and is physically gifted.....Tom will use McPeak and then move on, very probably move UP! Tom is better suited for the Beach Game than she is the Indoor game.....she likes to do things HER WAY, and on a team of 6-15 it's tougher than on a team of TWO!
