Little weaker schedule than what Hawaii usually has. Really the Nebraska match is the only one Hawaii will be underdogs in. With what UCLA loses, I say Hawaii has an even money chance to beat the Bruins at home.

Hawaii will be the underdog against Nebraska and should win the rest of the matches. But UCLA is tough. They lose Meriwether, but return Spicer at setter with Mehring, Daley, and Sather at the outside, not to metion the addition of Holloway. Hawaii will hopefully return their 3 injuied starters but lose their AA setter in Kamanao. Hawaii does pick up players that can make an immediate impact from the talent that was lost last year. Especially being this early in the season, it is too hard to tell who has the advantage. I definitely feel Hawaii needs to win this match. A loss puts Hawaii in a very bad position as the only other top team they will face will be Nebraska. The remaining teams are good, but will probably hover between 20-25 if they are ranked at all. This is going to hurt Hawaii’s chances of getting a good seed for the tournament.

This is going to hurt Hawaii’s chances of getting a good seed for the tournament. Based on the past 3 years, seedings doesn't really matter as Hawaii's been shipped anyways and their second round opponents have been good: Purdue (04); Texas (05), Long Beach (06).

Looking at the schedule, that Nebraska road match doesn't look as brutal as I initially expected- which is good to hear.
Hopefully the Wahine can use most of the reserves to sleep walk through USU/Idaho teams, so they'll be a little more refreshed come Nebraska.
.... interestingly, if Hawaii can come up with a big win over UCLA, the Nebraska match could potentially pit two undefeated teams against each other...

Seeding won't be critical for a first/second round host, but it will be critical in terms of the overall seeding. They have a weaker schedule and without a win over UCLA and/or Nebraska, they may not get a strong seed based on their strength of schedule. That could lower them in a poor seeding. This makes several very bold assumptions, but Nebraska may likely be the top seed and go to Wisconsin while Stanford will be the second seed and stay at home. Those are probably the 2 regions most schools will want to avoid. While Penn State and Florida at home will not be an easy road either, I think they are the preferred choices than seeing Nebraska or Stanford before the Final Four.

The Wahine can go 16-15, and so long as they win the WAC tournament, they'll get into the NCAA. The seedings may hurt them but it's not like they got any favors from the NCAA in recent years for doing well in the regular season. Texas in the second round in 2005? Oregon State in the first round in 2007? Geez, why not Albany or Cornell or St. John's or New Hampshire?

Any truth to the rumor that 5 Wahine are leaving the team? Something about wanting to play in a more competitive conference to help them with their National Team aspirations?
I might have dreamed this. BiK was there and he wasn't 4'3".

Which goes to show how silly that rationale was. Some people are born stupid, others develop it later on.
