No way... Nebraska shouldn't have won the NC last year. Had it not been for home court, and suspect officiating (3 BHE's called against the best setter in the nation), UCLA would have won another NC. No one in Nebraska wants to admit it... But it's true. They know. How does the best setter get three BHE's called against her. Yeah, its too bad that she had gotten away with sloppy ball handling throughout the season and didn't learn until she was playing with the big girls that the set has to be clean. Just kidding Mikey, settle down ;D

Whoah Nellie! I guess I'm a little slow, but would you mind explaining how a UCLA win over Nebraska in the semis would have given UCLA a National Championship? At some point I thought there was like an actual Championship match, or something, that had to like actually be played before a Champion could be declared. But in any case, maybe you're right, because it's not like Stanford beat UCLA both home and away in PAC10 play or anything.

I suspect this thread will be brought back many times during the season. If the Huskers live up to their hype, their legions of fans will bring it back and if they falter (not likely of course), their detractors (just two with multiple personalities) will bring it back. Might as well flag it to stay at the top. ;D

One of the best setters in the nation is true though. You telling us that 3 called BHE's is all that cost UCLA the victory. Get real! The match was called really close all night as Holloway was called 3 times for BHE's as was former setter Busboom being called once while trying to set.

UCLA's 25 attack errors, 10 services errors, and 4 blocking errors just might have had more of an impact on the outcome of the match than Spicer's 3 ball handling errors.
Some might even think that Merriweather's only being able to get 12 kills (4 in game 1; 8 in the final 3 games) off of her 42 attacks might have had more of an impact than Spicer's ball handling errors.
A plethora of weak passes by UCLA causing Spicer to run around the court to make her sets just might have helped in getting her the 3 ball handling errors.
Game 1 (30-23 UCLA): No BHEs. Game 2 (30-28 NU): Spicer 1 BHE on game point for Nebraska; UCLA hit 0.130 Game 3 (30-23 NU): Spicer 2 BHEs, Sather 1 BHE; Holloway 1 BHE, Mancuso 1 BHE; UCLA hit 0.156 Game 4 (30-28 NU): A BHE called on Holloway gave UCLA their 28th point - no BHEs called on Spicer.

Nellie Spicer had an amazing year last year, and that's why Nana had those incredible numbers in the kills department. A lot of people are going to argue who was the best setter in the country last year, but it was really Nellie Spicer's year. There were other dynamic setters like Kamanao and Thompson, but it was Spicer who shined all year last season.

I was lucky to see most of the AA setters live last season; Thompson, Spicer, Holloway, Kehoe, Moriarty, Simpson and Nu'u plus Carico. Spicer definitely had a great season and would get my vote as best setter.

It wasn't going to be UCLA's year. Why...because whoever won the match between Nebraska and Minnesota in the regional final was going to win the National Championship. Yep, UCLA would have lost to Minnesota who would have then beaten Stanford had they in fact gotten past Nebraska. No point in denying it everyone. Simply the best volleyball played out of all the regionals. A pity they had to meet there instead of in the finals in Omaha. Wouldn't everyone have loved that 5 game thriller instead of the pitiful 4 games Stanford mustered to take it to? At least that's my theory, but I love Nebraska and Minnesota. In fact I've always been a UCLA fan too. Hate that Stanford team though. Just can't like them.
And....the best setter in the country is Holloway. She should be leading the National Team right now. The future best setter in the country is Alex Blatt! Just sayin'.
Now feel free to tear me to shreds, it's fun.

Revellowski is right. Minnesota was robbed!
Have you seen Alex Blatt play? All I've heard is she is very athletic, hits and sets with some nice hops.
