So who is favored between UCLA and Washington? I'm sure the A2 teams will be stock full of college players as well.

I think Jim is using this tournament to measure the team's progress this spring. It will test how his new setter gels with her team against high level competitions. Has she arrived yet? Yes, she enrolled this past spring quarter and participated in spring practice. I saw her in a team scrimmage a few weeks ago.

So who is favored between UCLA and Washington...? An even better question in my mind is: who will actually play? It's an off-season game; freshmen will be seeing playing time, and some seasoned players will be resting injuries. Oh yes, and which team has the UCLA players? Westwood VBC? "Smack Trim"?

Westwood is UCLA. Smack Trim is Joy MacKenzie's team. I think that Stacy Gordon is on that team.

Stacey is definitely in the team pictures on Kashi Cormier's Myspace. But you can't trust everything you see online. For example, according to USC, Kashi apparently shrank about ten inches after graduatiing.* *DISCLAIMER: I am neither Ali Dailey's nor Kashi Cormier's momsies.

Ike player fighting cancer will join Huskies as coach
Since the rare bone cancer she is fighting took away her ability to play volleyball, Shayla Holwegner has been giving more and more thought to coaching her favorite sport one day.
Well, Coach Holwegner, that day is already here.
The 16-year-old Eisenhower sophomore, who has been battling osteosarcoma since it was diagnosed in her broken left leg two months ago, will travel as an assistant coach with the University of Washington volleyball team to a preseason event in Texas later this month.
UW coach Jim McLaughlin received permission from the NCAA to include Holwegner, who's been living with her mother at the Ronald McDonald House near Children's Hospital in Seattle. During the first months of her yearlong treatment regime, the Husky women befriended Holwegner, especially All-American Christal Morrison.
To make the trip possible, Holwegner's medical team adjusted her treatment schedule so her blood counts would be at their highest levels following a recent campaign of highly aggressive chemotherapy.
When she returns from Texas, Holwegner will undergo a technically advanced surgery to replace her left femur.
Local efforts to help the family continue with several upcoming events, including the Shayla Fund Silent Auction on Saturday at Jack-sons Sports Bar.

Ex-Terminators is a great name for a Volleyball team, especially an older one.
Exterminators? Not so great. I'm just saying.

When I think of Exterminators, I think of John Goodman in Arachniphobia, especially when he is wearing green coveralls and his hard helmet.
I think that should be the team uniform.
If nothing else, the coach should have to wear it.
