PUBLISHED: 05-28-07 2:00 AM EST Despite losing just one senior starter -- former Harrison standout Brittany Dildine -- Purdue has lured three of PrepVolleyball's top 40 Senior Aces on the way to a No. 7 ranking. Only the 2005 class of Stephanie Lynch, Danita Merlau and Kelli Miller was ranked higher, sixth, by the Web site. Last year's recruiting class, which included key contributors Sam Gray and Carrie Gurnell, was rated 13th. www.jconline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070528/COLUMNISTS10/705280323for the rest of the story.

Somehow the Boilermakers are always a few steps behind the Nittany Lions. I often wonder what it will take for them to hit on all six cylinders and knock PSU out.

The roster is up at: purduesports.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/mtt/pur-w-volley-mtt.htmlI tried to do a lineup, and it boggled my mind. The beginning of the Big Ten season looks very tough. (@minn, NAIA, OSU, PSU, @wi, @il) Not much chance for freshmen to get adjusted if they aren't ready after the pre-season. Penn State gets a mental edge in most games, where in the back of your mind you are thinking "we can't beat them". But, hopefully after watching Washington dismantle PSU in the Elite 8, the coaches/team will have some ideas about how to do some damage. But, once again, OSU/PSU as travel partners make it impossible to totally concentrate on that one match. I want to say it would help if our travel partner was really good this year, but I'm a Boilermaker. I just can't say that about IU.

Who will be setting for Purdue next season? Will they possibly go with a 6-2 again?

As right now I agree that PSU has an edge over Purdue due to the results and the reputation created, however; with Coach Shondell at the help Purdue is making a name of it's own and it will just take a couple more years before everything is equal (that is if Purdue conti ues to win). So who exactly HAS knocked PSU out? It's not easy... Heck, Minnesota arguably had the better team for several years and still only did it once. Wisconsin managed a couple.
In short, maybe Purdue should take 2nd a couple of times before we wonder so much about first.
Lastly, UW didn't dismantle PSU. The only team that did that last year was OSU.

Who will be setting for Purdue next season? Will they possibly go with a 6-2 again? I would be shocked -- SHOCKED -- if Purdue ran a 6-2. I think it's Hart's job to lose, and she's not even on campus yet.

Hey Yappachooka, Gray will be about as happy as the kid from Canada once Emro arrives.

I don't know, I remember thinking, "Why didn't Penn State play like that when they played us?" They just didn't even look like the same team.
