Utah State. Hailey Jeppson and Beth Hodge left the team. Hodge for nagging injuries Jeppson was sick of school. Both very good players as I remember them.
New Mexico State Jordan started the spring season with three setters,Jessee Ericson,Angelle Guerre and Iowa State transfer Alyssa Gintant. Jordan ran the 6-2 during spring matches and was expected to use it in the regular season that is until Ericson and Guerre left the team after spring ball.
Nevada What ever happened to Lelani Kleman-Maeva ? She disappeared from the roster during the 06 season but was still around UNR.No sign of her on the 07 roster. When she signed Scruggs made a point of letting everyone know that SHE CHOOSE NEVADA and I guess the implication was she choose Nevada over Hawai'i, I know that Dave and also UCLA was looking at her in high school but both seemed to lose interest in her.Come on Scruggs what player would choose Nevada over Hawai'i or UCLA ?

Jeppson dropped out of school? I didn't hear about that, although I know she originally committed to BYU, but was denied admission so it doesn't surprise me if in fact school just wasn't for her. Maeva was dismissed from the team in the middle of last season starbulletin.com/2006/11/24/sports/notebook.htmlScruggs started the season with two players from Hawaii on her roster: junior libero/defensive specialist Randi Salis (Kamehameha) and freshman hitter Lelani Kleman-Maeva (Aiea). Kleman-Maeva was dismissed from the team in September for unspecified reasons and Scruggs said a decision would be made before the end of the semester as to her status for next season. Salis quit soon after the team's loss at Hawaii, a match in which she played just one game. Also, I noticed that Stephanie Brandt isn't listed on the roster for Hawaii, even though all the other recruits are including Aneli Otineru. I wonder if she is still coming, as roy said though it could just be an oversight.

yey!!!!!!
The wahine roster is up and it is a presence! Thanks Roy. I'm on cloud 9....no drugs required. Last years stats were awesome to see again. I know this is like a duh! thing to say but the WAC needs more competition. What is going on?!

Kelly Ong's really gone. They gave her number to Amanda Simmons. Sad.

I can't see the Wahine going a season with only one setter on their roster. Likewise, NMSU only has one setter but had a late commitment from a freshman setter who isn't on the roster. Again, it's kind of nice that the WAC does the prospectus so early. It gives us something to talk about during the down time over the summer and its a great way to promote volleyball. But the prospectus has had some glaring mistakes in the past because it came out so early.

According to ma' sources, she DID choose Nevada over Hawaii. Don't know much bout UCLA though. Heard she didn't want to play for Dave and company. She's a good player - similar to Herring from Kamehameha.

No I wouldn't compare her to Kanani Herring. Yes Leilani is an amazing player, but Kanani is in a class by herself here in the islands.

Kanani Herring is indeed in a league of her own.
Anyway, it looks like New Mexico State will be very competitive again. They returned both of their starting middle blockers. Although they lose some key players from last season, but it looks like a couple of their new recruits will fill in the void just fine. I'm just anxious to see what will happen when the season starts. Although Hawaii is the overwhelming favorite to win yet again, it's good to have teams like NMSU to push them and to be ready for post season.

Hailey Jeppson from Utah State-would like to know her story. Wonder how her parents feel-pay for 5-6 years of traveling team club volleyball, get a scholarship to BYU, don't get accepted to BYU, get a scholarship to Utah State, don't like going to school and quit after a year. I know college isn't for everyone, but wish she would have given it more than a year. A free education (if you can call it that after her parents payed club fees for 5 years) should not be tossed aside lightly. From what I understand, it's not that she didn't like the school, program, coaches-she just didn't like school in general. I hope she's got a plan that involves more than working as a cashier at Walmart.

They have only one setter and it seems like they were practicing a 6-2 for the entire season. I think the biggest question for NMSU will be their passing. Borden and Allen were the primary passing outside hitters from last year and they are both gone. English is also gone, according to the NMSU roster on the athletic site. So that leaves a lot of questions in who will be the passing outsides. They have Torres and Bostic to secure the back as DS's, but they need to have passing outsides or they could run into some trouble.
