Oklahoma is replacing five out of seven starters: one OH, two middles, one setter, one Libero. They have eight new players coming in. The season can range from a so-so start and a strong finish to a total disaster. Its all coaching! Good thing they got rid of their assistants then!! Woo-hoo! But they also hired another one. So whats the diff?

Why would Toone be leaving ? Emillie Toone is not leaving the U. She was playing pick up with some club players after the national team stuff and just landed wrong. She ended up tearing her ACL and meniscus. She will redshirt the 2007 season and the 2008 season will be her senior year. It's a tough blow to the already bullet ridden Utah team but they will heal. They have some outstanding freshmen and transfers coming along with the experienced returners that have only one goal in mind. that goal is to continue the winning tradition at the U. And they will succeed. Most teams lose three or more seniors every year and get along just fine with out them. Utah lost three big contributors, not to graduation but to other things, and they will come through this storm on top. It's a little hard for people to see the future because these loses were not foreshadowed but the will be handled well by the coaching staff and players.

Believe me when I say this: most people will be rooting for the Utes this season.

Soph Kathan will step right in for Jillian at Cal. She has just been waiting her turn.

I know Iowa and Indiana will struggle in the Big 10, but don't you think that just about all of the Big 10 teams except PSU have some big holes in their squads ? Actually, for all the "assistant coaches" out there, what are the weaknesses of each 2007 Big 10 team and how would you exploit them (exclude Indiana and Iowa, no hope there) ?

Minnesota: serve them easy and keep throwing free balls at them. Whatever you do, don't get them out-of-system.

Lots of changes at IU...only 6 returning players (2 graduated). New coach, new setter, new, new, new, new...... One can only hope that it takes little time to get the players and the coaching strategy back on the up track.

If OSU successfully replaces the setter, I think they'll be better than the last two years. Those seniors who were a couple of bad calls removed from a Final Four appearance in 2004 shouldn't be scoffed at. Or snorted. No chortling, either, for that matter.

i know they're not a top team but arkansas is really going to struggle in 07. they lost their only offensive weapon from last year (koliva) and got no impact players coming in. koliva took twice as many swings as anyone else did last season. their top returning hitter was at about .200 last season and they are using the same setters as last year, which is usually a good thing, but in their case, not so much. the chinese girl they hoped would be their savior isnt working out as hoped from what i hear
