The 2007 roster does not include Regas, the 2006 freshman setter.
It list Hilgenburg, another freshman- as the only setter.
If my count is correct, this is the 7th setter in 4 years.

Something like that. You can probably consider that the last traces of Weismiller's tenure.

I was going to point out that there IS a new coach, too. I don't think IU fans should be concerned about her trying to correct mistakes of the previous coach.

Gardner- transfered to Arizona- left after '02 Bronenburg- quit- during '02 Zimmerman- transferred to Utah State- after '03 Arsenych- quit- went back to Texas- after her sophmore year- first year of starting- '05? Regas- ?- started '06- Watts- ? - played some setter in '06 after transferring from Miami (OH)
There may be more before Gardner that I don't recall.
Anyway- I'm pulling for the new coach and the Hoosiers. I'm sure the freshman setter is good but it would have been nice to have some Big Ten experience to set the fresh talent this year.

New coaches, new mindset. And sometimes you have to deconstruct the present to build the future. Besides, its not like they have that far to fall to reach rock bottom in conference.

No offense to IU, but I knew Regas was making a mistake going there. Anyone know where she'll be for this season?

Not surprised. Bring on the foreign national players.

I always thought their biggest problem in the past was they'd play such a soft pre conference and thus weren't very tough when conference play started. They've had some decent player's and that's a nice place to watch a match.

No, I think it went much farther than that, far beyond anything that scheduling could address. It's not like they were going undefeated through a cakewalk of a non-conference schedule. If you say so.

Michigan State will also have a new starting setter for the 5th season in a row. Katie Vander Meer, their backup setter from last year, is no longer with the team so MSU will be working with one freshman setter this year.
03: Nikki Colson 04: Maggie Griffin 05: Mickey Davis 06: Allison Ianni 07: Lauren O'Reilly
and if Natalie Emro is as good as advertised, they may have a different starting setter next year too.

Yes, another setter.
Regarding the 2006 pre-season matches...IU did quite well with Ms. Regas as setter. Her height was a great attribute. She will be missed. She'll be attending a southern school this fall. Hopefully IU has a back-up setter as well.
That said, IU fans can be hopeful that so many big changes will yield positive results.
Go Hoosiers!

Put David Jack in spandex, OK, bad picture, and have him play. That'll be good for a bunch of matches.

Maybe - Arsenych '04, Holm '05?

Holm- that's the one I forgot. Between Arsenych and Regas. Played her freshman year and left the team. I wonder if she transferred or is still at IU.
So this is the 8th setter since '02.
