Enjoyed the short video. Would have liked to see what Fitzgerald does in practice. Who is the left-handed coach who was very active in each drill?

I haven't seen her work with players yet but she is very articulate and has very good rapport with the fans. Lizzy is going to be a popular one here.

I have a feeling based on what I've been reading in local media that Tara Mueller may play a bigger role than Licht. No specific comments though on Licht. Don't believe the local media. If NU runs a 5-1, then we will use a libero (could be Mueller, played Libero for National Team this summer), but according to the media, Cook is using her as the 3rd OH. If NU runs a 6-2 (more than likely), then Licht will play a bigger role. Double sub, middles for setter. Libero might come in for Licht to serve and pass. Time will tell. Tara is a very solid overall player. Great passer (obviously), good hitter, good server, nice hands...just needs to learn the college game.

Here is a shot from Media Day. I wonder how many other volleyball programs have this sort of interest for their media day?Yeah.......here's a hint for ya........A place with sun, sand, surf, mai tai's, and scenic beauty. ;D So... that'd be "one" other program? It is pretty amazing (for Nebraska as well as that unnamed scenic-beauty location) to get that much interest and attention. I wish that more than two (or maybe it's three or four) programs could validly claim it.

If I'm not to believe the local media on Tara then why believe she is being looked at as OH3? That comment doesn't make sense. If one quote is not reliable then the other isn't either. I'm wondering why Cook keeps saying "if" a libero develops. What is Schwartz doing? I still think running a 6-2 is a huge mistake. Holloway and better ball control is what brought the title to Lincoln last year.

Holloway is an amazing setter, that is true. Griffin can hold her own. The problem is that Holloway gives up too much when blocking. Why not put a 6'5" girl up there to take away court? Apparently Licht is an amazing blocker (better than Pavan when she was a freshman) but doesn't hit the angles that Sarah can.
I think they have to run a 6-2, let Licht block and set Sarah and Jordan in the back row if they are out of system.
I think it is proven, that Cook is partial to a 6-2 anyway.

Griffin can hold her own but so far has not shown that she can run the team. That's my biggest concern, even this spring when she set the level of play of the Huskers dropped compared to when Holloway was in the match.

If they don't get that attention, something's wrong with the media in Lincoln. Seriously, though, Nebraska gets great support from both its fans and its media. And I agree that it would be great if more programs got that much support, interest and attention.

I didn't get a chance to see them play this spring, so I will take your word for it. On paper it looks like a sure - fire 6-2, but if the team operates at a higher level with 1 setter Cook will have them in a 5-1.
Only 10 days left. I can't wait.

I'm wondering why Cook keeps saying "if" a libero develops. What is Schwartz doing? Actually what I've heard him say is "if a GREAT Libero develops". Schwartz was a DS last year and the change to Libero is not just a matter of changing DS to L on the roster. I do think Schwartz can do it but it is also much more than just her getting to where she needs to be. I still think running a 6-2 is a huge mistake. Holloway and better ball control is what brought the title to Lincoln last year. I'm certainly willing to leave that decision to Cook. He sees the players daily and you can bet he and the other coaches will be doing what is best to give the team the best opportunity to be successful. I'm sure players feeling will enter into that because really bad vibes can destroy team chemistry. However I know he is also trying to engrain the "team concept" into the players and they have so some may have to understand what is best for them, may not be best for the team and visa versa. No matter which offensive system they use, someone is not gong to be as satisfied as if they had used the other system.
