No, that's not my predicted season results (although one can always hope), it is the number of away matches vs. the number of home matches. The team starts off with 12 straight away matches and then has 8 of the next 20 (the 8 Big West home matches) at home. OUCH! Maybe the most interesting part of the schedule will be matches with the WCC. We will have a pretty good idea where we would have placed within the WCC as we play away matches at their preseason Top 4 plus #6 St Marys.
This is a very young team, with only four upperclassmen. Of those four two have a total of 2 starts between them. As best I can tell from descriptions on the web site plus last years play the starters should look something like:
Outside #1: Charlene DeHoog 6'0" Frosh Middle #1: Brett Quirarte 6'3" Senior Setter: Dana Vargus 5'7" Frosh Outside #2 or Opposite: Rebecca Saraceno 6'2" Soph Primary Passer/Outside(?):Lauren McLaughlin 5'11" Junior Middle #2 or Opposite Stacey Schmidt 6'3" Frosh Libero: Wide Open
It's going to be a wild ride this season.

from the inside, Vargas & Kipp are great additions to the returning line-up - Dana who can run an offense from any angle and Kipp can not only hit hard she blocks too!!! looking forward to seeing Brett & Kasey at the net stuffing their opponents!!!

I expect Leigh will be the Libero. Can't imagine anyone else filling that role, unless we have some amazing freshman. Especially since Kathy said it's gonna be her in the article that just got posted on the gaucho web site.
Ya know, I just moved to San Diego this year, and it seems I have the opportunity to see almost as many UCSB games in my hometown as I would have if I had stayed in Santa Barbara. Sad.

I wonder if Cal Poly bussed to Wichita State, Lincoln and Omaha? Or Pacific taking the Greyhound to Colorado State. Heck - UC Irvine is headed to Montana. The rest of the conference does seem to be willing to travel.
