I disagree. I think the only area Nebraska struggled today was setting. Holloway was not getting the ball in the right position at the right tempo. The hitters were doing way too many tips. These girls are high ball hitters.... they were all a step late on most sets. I don't think Nebraska should be playing that fast of an offense.... let those big girls do what they do best. And I disagree. Those tips went for kills. It is not always the big banging that is needed. You take what the defense gives you and Tennesee left the tip open all night. I don't recall them picking up one. Now UCLA will not let many tips like that fall so then you use a different offense.

It was truly unfortunate to have to play Nebraska game #1. They are the defending national champions and fully expected to repeat. Tennessee started a new setter (Berg), a freshman OH (Fowler), a new middle (Powe) and their most eperienced Sr player in her first match since an ACL tear (Yulia). Tennessee will rebound and get better very fast as this group learns to play together. There are only handful of teams that could have performed better under these circumstances. Not only those newbies you mention but we also started a sophomore doing duty as libero for the first time! I agree it wasn't that bad considering Tennessee's inexperience. I disagree that is was unfortunate to have to play Nebraska as their first game. What a way to jump into those new positions. And as an announcer said, Tennessee's season does not get any harder than it was last night!

The announcer actually screwed up and ssaid "it's all uphill from here."
Is there really no online anything for the consolation game? I can watch all kinds of scrub teams play online this weekend, but Tennessee Utah at the AVCA SHOWCASE doesnt even put up a little camera and plug it into the internet?

I can't even get CSTV on my cable but I'd be willing to start paying the monthly XXL fee if these games were shown.

That at least made a little sense with something like espnU not letting NeTV show the championship 2 years ago. It was a dick move, but it did kindof make sense. Here the game ISNT GOING TO BE TELEVISED, and could be streamed by THE SAME PEOPLE who have the TV rights...

We can agree to disagree. You are right... most of those tips went down as kills; however too many of those tips were required because of too low of sets. I love a good tip shot as well as anyone, but when it is at the discretion of the hitter.... NOT because the hitter has no other choice.
I was actually very impressed with every aspect of Nebraska's game. I'm most impressed that they were passing so well, so early in the season. Again, the only thing I thought looked like early season play was the setting.

my bad. By "online anything" i meant video, allthough thank you for the stats link, i will probably "watch" it while i actually watch the air force game (where ironically, i will be able to see whats going on, but not really know the score, which player hit the last kill, etc...).
