While Illinois doesn't average what Wisconsin does, few do, they're generally in the top 20 in attendence. I don't know what that 800 match was but it was an exception not a typical match.
As for a star player coming back to a team playing well. At the vary least she's going to help with depth. Plus it usually takes a while to get back in the groove. I just hope she doesn't gp bonkers against us.

Watching Tenn. tonight it was VERY hard to believe they gave Nebraska any problem. To say they were unimpresive is a huge understatement. They only played #1 at the end of each game. She looked kind of gimpy but they seemed to play better when she was in.
I'm looking forward to see how our freshmen are going to compare to all the other highly touted freshman coming into the B10. The 3 playing tonight looked very good. Granted they weren't playing Penn State but they certainly weren't playng like freshmen. Debruler especially is looking VERY good.

I wasn't making a dig at Illinois in my previous post, if anyone read it that way. I think Huff Hall is a very good volleyball venue and that the Illini usually have good crowds. I hope that is something that continues, as it is good for the conference and the sport.
It is too bad that the Illini are having injury problems, with McCulley and Alde out now and Turner not having played this year. That has to hurt them. It looks from the numbers like DeBruler is having a nice start to her career, and Bangert looks to be doing fine in her transition to the college game as well. I am assuming that they went back to the 5-1 with Bazzetta tonight due to a shortage of outsides. That has to stink for Haen. I hope if they continue with that, it isn't due to a lack of players.
Congrats to Creighton and their coach on the win. I hope they give the Illini a good match. I have to stand with my fellow Truman graduates.

I don't think Nebraska had ANY trouble with Tennessee!
And as I said in another thread, for a team comprised almost entirely of sophomores (most of whom got very little playing time last year) I think The Lady Vols are doing as well as can be expected.

I was thinking it must have been an off night for them since they only had one loss coming in. Plus the temp in Huff was HOT. Some teams just don't play well in the heat.
I know every team has an injury from time to time but this is getting rediculous. Three weeks in and we're already 3 players down. Turner may never play again, McCully's out for at least a month, and Alde's sounds like it may crop up again. The coaches have tried changing things but nothing seems to work.
They said the crowd was about 2300 but as a long time Huff goer it looked closer to 3000. The student section alone was close to a thousand. Hope we play well against Creighton. They looked pretty solid in their win.

I am really sorry to hear that about Turner. She is a good player. I hope that she will be able to play again, but it is more important for her to be healthy the rest of her life than to risk further injury that will stay with her.

Illinois is up and down against Creighton. They won the first game 30-22 but lost the second 30-17. Ouch. I guess that will happen with so many freshmen playing. The Illini had 13 errors in the second game to hit zero for the game. Creighton is blocking well. It looks like the Illini are going to DeBruler a ton; she already has 36 attempts but only nine kills at .056. Probably a sign of not too good ball control. Brown has nine kills at .375. No one else is doing much for the home squad. It will be interesting to see how they respond.

Illinois takes game three, 30-25, as both teams hit negative for the game. Must be ugly. 8-5 Illini in the fourth game.

11-10 Illini, as DeBruler, Kump, and Palash are all hitting negative for the match.
