Gametracker seems to be stuck at 29-22 Illinois, so I am assuming the Illini won. DeBruler had 17 kills and got above zero for the match. Brown had 16 killls at .423. The Illini only hit .112 when the gametracker stuck for the match. They held the Bluejays to .071. The Illini had five players with double digit digs, led by Edinger with 21. It was probably pretty ugly, but two home wins for a young team is a good sign.

Illinois wins 30-22 in the fourth game. Brown was name MVP - Debruler and Bazetta were also named to the tournament team. Edinger and Bangert played well. It was a decent win for the Illini, especially without two starters. They will need McCulley back to compete in the Big 10.

Illinois wasn't anywhere near overwhelming in the match. Game 2 wasn't as close as the score. As was said it WAS pretty ugly but it was a win. But along with the 3 missing players Amy Palesh is playing with a bad knee and Rachel Henderson also laid up it was a bit of good news that freshman DS Lea Zarytsky was finally able to play. So the injury situation is even worse. Lots of playes have to get healthy for B10 play.

The Illini have certainly had more than their fair share of injuries the past few seasons. I hope they are able to get physically healthy soon. I hope they feel some emotional pain in their first conference match, though.

Alde may be back by then but that's about it. We'll have to play a LOT better to beat you guys though even if healthy. We're supposed to lose to you guys so how much emotional pain will there be?? On the other hand if we pull the upset?

Is Haen (freshman setter) hurt too? With the playing being so ragged in the Creighton match games 2 and three, I was very surprised the very touted freshman did not get put in.

Don's always been reluctant to switch setters in a match. The passing was bad so a new setter would have had the same problems. Maybe if it had been later in the match he might have made the switch but we were pretty much in control of games 3 & 4.

My first time at Illinois. Loved the student section on Friday night. They were great and like the tradition of lining the court after the match with the players. It should be interesting to see how all 4 teams do in conference play. If Illinois gets healthy they will finish better than last year. Liked their setter, not flashy but puts up a great ball everytime. Marquette also has some injury issues I was told. I think Tennessee will be an NCAA Tournament team. 2nd time I've seen Creighton this year. I like their team, fundamentally sound but needs another hitter.
