anyone got any thoughts on how this weekend will affect the next poll?
I think we may see Purdue back in the top 25 after a nice showing this weekend. The younger players seem a little more comfortable.

I think Michigan football falls 20-30 more spots.

I think Michigan football falls 20-30 more spots. I think their coach gets fired. He probably left the sidelines.....went to his office......packed it up.......and left town forever. He's probably been fired already. First time in over 45 years they have lost the first two games of the season and first time since 1968(?) they haven't been in the top 25.....ouch!

Charlie Weis should join him on the unemployment line. Most overrated coach in America. That guy hasn't beaten a decent team in his 2+ seasons. They still haven't scored an offensive TD this year. He's supposed to be this offensive guru and all they can manage is 2 field goals this year. Play anyone worth a damn and they get blown out.

Yeah, that Notre Dame-Michigan game next weekend should be great. I can't describe how happy I was to find out that the Florida-Tennessee game is on at the same time next week so I can watch a real game.
As for the poll, I would probably still have BYU ahead of Wisconsin, since the Badgers haven't really done anything that impressive. They have the potential to be a top ten team, but I don't think they are playing like one right now. Still, they are there by default again.

I don't think I'll watch the Notre Dame-Michigan pillow fight... Ballerina just isn't my thing.

Now that his first recruiting class are juniors, they are awful... hmmm...

I agree. It looks like Willingham wasn't the worst coach ever, after all, doesn't it?

Willingham is doing a fine job at UW. When ND goes 0-8 to start the season, will they fire Charlie, the way they fired Ty for a poor season? No, of course not, cause Charlie is the savior and he's white.

He did pretty good with Ty's recruits... Now that his first recruiting class are juniors, they are awful... hmmm... Except it's not really his recruiting class, because he wasn't hired until barely two months before signing day. The class is threadbare partly because Willingham *sucked* as a recruiter (which is also a big reason why Ty was fired) and partly because of the staff turnover. Compare with Weis's first two full classes, which were both ranked in the top ten, and the early commitments for the 2008 class have it ranked as the best in the country at this point, albeit with a number of big names still uncommitted. Anybody who was paying any attention to the program knew that there were going to be problems this season. Weis will get the rest of this year and at least half of next year.

Returning the thread to its subject. While I agree Purdue is probably better than its current ranking, who do they bump to get back into the Top 25? Only a few teams have losses. Two teams in the upper half of the poll have two losses (BYU and Duke), but they are to solid teams and their rankings are high enough that they are unlikely to drop out. Santa Clara also has two losses. One is to Hawaii. Maybe the other loss (to Wichita State) is enough to create room for Purdue. St. Johns is two spots ahead of Purdue, but their loss is to Penn State in Happy Valley. Will they flip-flop? While LSU lost to Iowa State, that was their first loss. That's probably not enough to drop out.
Poll dynamics are always interesting, especially at the bottom and especially early in the season.

Maybe Cal Poly will move up after beating BYU. Minnesota might move down after taking a lashing by Cal. Texas A & M and Oregon are undefeated, although the teams may have been fairly weak, they may move in.
