I'm sure Nickie Thomas can touch 10' too. At 6'1" OT Ferrell should be an easy shoo-in.

Woolford? If so, she is amazing, only 5'7". What about Aneli? Several posters have mentioned that Shoji has stated that Woolford is one of the most athletic players on the team with great jumping ability. Otineru can hit hard as anyone on the team but, unfortunately, cannot hit over blocks, not able to jump high enough. Against well-formed blocks, Otineru has to hit high hands or tool her hits off the blocks. I think Otineru had to make some adjustments from junior college play where she could just power through blocks. At the elite Division I level, she cannot do this; she has to adapt and hit smarter, which match by match she has been learning to do.

Raeceen Woolford has been mentioned as the girl with the highest vertical on the team. I don't know if this is still true, but I know this was mentioned last year and the years previous.
If I'm not mistaken though Aneli has been mentioned as one of the girls that do touch over 10 feet, although I might be wrong.

Found the article...she had a 31 inch vertical? the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2004/Nov/18/sp/sp02p.htmlPunahou standout signs with UH Advertiser Staff Punahou's Aneli Cubi-Otineru, last season's Advertiser All-State Player of the Year in volleyball, signed a national letter of intent to play for the University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team. Cubi-Otineru "It feels good, it's like a blessing," Cubi-Otineru said. "Ever since I was small, I was watching UH volleyball, so to play for them would be a dream come true." Cubi-Otineru, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter with a 31-inch vertical jump, was named an all-state player in each of her first three years."We're happy to add Aneli Cubi-Otineru to our volleyball family," UH coach Dave Shoji said. "She's an outstanding all-around player who will add depth to the outside hitting positions. She has excellent back row skills as well as being a physically gifted athlete." Cubi-Otineru ran into academic trouble last semester and was ineligible this season until the first quarter ended Oct. 26. She said she has since taken care of her grade problems, and that Shoji never threatened to pull her scholarship offer. "He told me it was a blessing in disguise, because I learned a lot through this experience and it's better that I learn it now rather than later," Cubi-Otineru said. "It made me work a lot harder." Cubi-Otineru returned to notch a match-high 24 kills in Punahou's four-game victory over Kamehameha for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu title two weeks ago, but was hampered by a strained hamstring and saw limited action in the state tournament this past week. Punahou beat Kamehameha in the final at King Kekaulike on Maui to finish undefeated and repeat as champion.

I think, with the year off, her athleticism went downhill a bit. But, I believe now that she's tasting DI action, she'll get into shape this off-season and she'll be sky high again.
Remember Jocelyn Robins was only 5'8. I still believe, had she not gotten that ankle injury against Michigan in 1996 to start the year, she would have been an AA.

If that's the case, she certainly would touch over 10' at 5'7" tall, wouldn't she with outstretched arms.

I recall hearing JM on the radio saying that aneli appears tired. After a while, no matter if you can touch 10' or not you get tired jumping that high if you're only 5'10 or so. I think when she gets into better condition she is going to more potent. On the other hand, Kanani Herring, with a smaller physique, may be an exception. She's like another Kim Willoughy (endurance wise), and may be able to touch 10'6 or 10'7. She probably won't tire out so fast because of her small bone structure/frame.

Woolford has a 35+-inch vertical. According to one of Thurlby's earlier online journals, Blood can touch 10 feet.

Is it on KKEA 1420 on the Internet? Yes- local shows are broadcast over the internet- as are the Wahine games. Better than game tracker?

10 players on this roster are touching 10 feet or more Shoji said today in the press.Houston tops the list at 10'7 Didn't DS say something earlier in the season to the effect that Simmons could not only touch a basketball rim but she could actually grasp it? I don't know in what context though- perhaps comparing her to the other MBs.

I don't really care how high these athletes can touch. Heck, if Blood can touch over 10 ft, put her in the game if this factor alone is so important.

I don't know in what context though- perhaps comparing her to the other MBs. What has been reported about her jump is full of contradiction. First, we read she touches 10' to which someone posted it's a disappointment for a tall MB. Then I read in the internet she touches 10'3. I too remember DS saying that about her ability to grasp the rim. I wonder how high that is. It's more than 10' or 10'3. But Dave never mentioned anything like this about any of his other players, present or past. This tells she touches 11'.
