... bama awarded credit for a win by ref.
Where do they dig up volleyball refs? A lot of the ones we get stuck with are freaking terrible.
Amongst many other bad calls, on game one game point for UTK, our hit landed at LEAST a full foot in bounds. Some chick working the corner calls it out, and the head guy doesnt overrule her... One of the worst calls i've ever seen, and it being on game point didn't help... The horrible FSN broadcast neither mentioned it nor replayed it.

Yes they blew one maybe two big calls (Tennessee should have won the first game with a kill that was at least a foot or more inside but was called out; similar call gave may have given Alabama game two - haven't watched the replay) and a few smaller calls. But if we had stopped Alabama on all the calls that weren't blown we could've survived the few bad calls. Alabama beat Tennessee with some really good digging. They dug up some shots that no one should've been able to get to!

Seriously, there are so many complaints about officials but how many of us actually do something about it (and I don't mean doing something like soccer fans do something)? One of the things I admired about my dad is that when he got fed up with the officials he was seeing he signed on to be an official in football and basketball. We could use more people getting into officiating. Me, I know I'd be terrible because I never see the doubles current officials see!

thats hilarious gopher. I would be the same way and sure I wouldn't last a full season lol
I hate when refs control the games. there needs to be a nice balance while keeping the integrity of the sport. just sucks when every point matters and something as simple as 1 point an change the momentum of the game

If you were in Hawaii last weekend to see the horrically terrible calls made throughout the Mariott Preseason Tournament I bet you wouldn't feel bad any more.

So did the match end at 2-1 (games) with 'Bama given the win?

I rewatched the ends of games 1 & 2 off my TiVo in slomo and I don't see either of those calls you're talking about. Alabama swept Tenn 3-0 and only the first game was close (35-33).
What's the beef?

So did the match end at 2-1 (games) with 'Bama given the win? Alabama won 3-0. I think Chance was joking that since Tennessee should have won the first game but for the bad call, after 3 games the score should have been 2-1. I rewatched the ends of games 1 & 2 off my TiVo in slomo and I don't see either of those calls you're talking about. Alabama swept Tenn 3-0 and only the first game was close (35-33). What's the beef? When I got home from the game I watched in slow motion too. In game one they did not have the camera on the ball on the shot we're talking about. The ball was in by a foot at least (I was right in front of that play) and would've ended game on 32-30 for Tennessee. After watching game two on TV that final shot was close enough to call either way without a complaint from me. As I said above though, we got beat by a lot more than a few bad calls. BTW - were those SEC TV commentators and camera operators awful or was it just me?

So, any chance it was in? Who were the refs... I didn't see the play but if the call was missed by at least a foot then I have a guess as to who the line judge was...

So, any chance it was in? Who were the refs... I didn't see the play but if the call was missed by at least a foot then I have a guess as to who the line judge was... It was a semi young looking woman with dark hair. Like James said, the camera work isn't good enough to see the call at the end of game 1, and they didn't replay it. The ball was around a foot in. Second worst in / out call ive ever seen. (the worst was a florida serve at florida that seemed from my seat to be at least 2 feet in, but was ruled out). The call semi near the end of game 2, the ball clearly goes off the pin and then tools our block, as opposed to the other way around, and it was obvious to everybody but the refs. That one didn't come on game point or right before it though, so it's hard to give it as much weight as the first one.
