AVCA's summary:

CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Unranked Losses #12 BYU lost to UNLV 0-3 #14 Cal Poly lost to Xavier 2-3 #14 Cal Poly lost to Sacramento State 1-3 #17 Ohio lost to Long Beach State 2-3 #20 Ohio State lost to Oregon 0-3 #22 Santa Clara lost to UC Santa Barbara 2-3 #22 Santa Clara lost to Notre Dame 2-3 #25 Texas A&M lost to Iowa State 0-3 #25 Texas A&M lost to Oklahoma 2-3
Any mention of Purdue's win over Oregon comes a page later, under "Other teams receiving votes". It sucks, but when Oregon moves up, Purdue won't be able to ride their coattails very much. Now, if they'd won after Oregon was ranked, that would be different.
My predictions: BYU, Ohio and tOSU drop a little. Cal Poly drops a lot. Santa Clara and TAMU are no longer ranked. That alone would get NMSU and Oregon ranked. The weekend's results may help Oregon debut at 23 or something. Purdue gains a few votes, but LBSU gains more. It's an interesting question whether LBSU gains enough to be ranked (overtaking NMSU) but I'm guessing they won't.
As for Pacific? Well, whoever was voting for Loyola Marymount may put Pacific on their list now. Who knows how many actually will though.

Judging by that...A&M, Santa Clara, and OSU should no longer be ranked...
Anyone think Texas will move down at all?

Anyone think Texas will move down at all? Not me. There's no penalty for failing to upset the defending national champion. Nobody in the top 10, including Texas, has given the AVCA voters a reason to change their votes. The "moving" will all happen among the lower-ranked teams.

Those 2 victories are quality wins nonetheless. Anyone think Texas will move down at all? Not me. There's no penalty for failing to upset the defending national champion. Nobody in the top 10, including Texas, has given the AVCA voters a reason to change their votes. The "moving" will all happen among the lower-ranked teams. I think Washington will definitely be moving up the polls, don't know where exactly, they are playing very good volleyball right now.

Isn't every AVCA poll release day a &quo t;moving" day according to your definition? No, not really. Sometimes there is very little movement, like last week. I think the biggest move was 5 spots and only one school dropped out - MTSU to let TAMU in, which was in my opinion a mistake. I'm probably wrong, but I'm expecting a lot more movement this week.

UNLV should receive a few votes as they have wins over Loyola , UCSB, and now BYU & Utah in the same weekend. (a record for them)

(snip) ...I suspect though that Oregon's win over tOSU is going to be much more visible than their loss to Purdue. It's not fair, but Oregon may be ranked tomorrow, without Purdue getting many more votes. That doesn't sound very fair. It is supposed to not punish you for losses that are supposed to happen (USC) and promote you for good wins (Oregon) But I definitely see Oregon in there and probably not Purdue. I can't wait for the Big Ten and Pac 10 seasons, we will see a lot of stuff shake out.

However, Purdue has Minnesota on Friday, and a win at 12th ranked, Minny, plus a win over now ranked Oregon will vault them back to the glory land that is the top 25.

More importantly, they'd be 2-0 in the Big Ten with a good win over a ranked team. Whether they are ranked or not is not as important as whether they get the recognition from the NCAA committee. Wins over Oregon and good Big Ten teams would go a long way in that direction. Actually, all Big Ten wins will be important to get that RPI up. That Utah match is hurting it pretty bad right now (Pablo saw that match as a close loss, albeit at home, to a good team; RPI sees it as a home loss (bad) to a 2 - 7 team (yeah, Utah has good opponents, but the opponents' opponents part of the RPI is not as significant as that 2 - 7 record)). OTOH, their Pablo ranking is creeping up. Up to 40 this week..!

What is the richkern ranking? I wish it would hurry up and be poasted! Purdue was 26 last week ... And are you assuming a win over IOWA to make it 2-0 ? I wouldn't take any big ten match for granted this year.
