Why is it so difficult for webmasters to put a Mapquest address on their facilities descriptions? It is so annoying to have to search and search on Athletics websites for an address to use getting a Mapquest route. Sheez! Even if they have directions of their own, I like to be able to run a Mapquest to see how long it will take to get there.
I like watching volleyball matches where the schools are close in proximity and have a healthy rivalry. Kinda fun, even if the match isn't that competitive, especially if a lot of students show up. But ya gotta know how to get there. What are some of the best current close proximity rivalries in volleyball?

We normally just look up mapquest city to city if we are looking for an estimate on how long it will take to get there.

Well that works to get a general idea. But I'm talking about very specifically, so that you know if it's worth it to take the drive if you can't leave too early in the day. We normally just look up mapquest city to city if we are looking for an estimate on how long it will take to get there.

I can only speak for those in Southern California:
Well -- there's USC and UCLA which is always really fun to watch because of the rivalry and the crowds that show up. Usually it's great volleyball and very entertaining. You can't get much closer in proximity than these two schools.
Another fun one is Long Beach State and UCSB....when they play at Long Beach. (It's about a 2 hour drive between the two.) There are HUGE crowds and the announcers really get into the match. It's fun to watch the interactions between Gimallero and Gregory -- and the 2 vargas sisters will be squaring off against each other.
Can't wait! (UCSB is playing LB this weekend, but it's in Santa Barbara, where the crowds aren't nearly as big.)

I notice a San Diego State matchup at San Diego tomorrow. Will that match draw any spectators? Will San Diego put the hurt on the State school?
I also see Baylor plays a bunch of Texas teams. Does that rowdy bunch travel to all those games? UT vs. Baylor would seem like a big draw.

Close proximity:
Santa Clara and Stanford -- I pay a nickel and two bits for a twenty-minute ride on the two-horse stagecoach up El Camino. Faster if you drive a car.
Duke and North Carolina -- 20 minutes between Durham and Chapel Hill
North Carolina and NC State -- 30 minutes between Durham and Raleigh
George Washington and Georgetown -- same city, but there's all that traffic
Michigan and Eastern Michigan -- 15 minutes between Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Michigan guys go to EMU to date the hot chicks.
Sac State and UC Davis -- I mean, if anyone cares.

My pet peeve with travel has nothing to do with the travel itself but with the lack of reasonable parking at the destination. And parking is not really a pet peeve of mine, just an annoyance.

Now you can buy a stand alone gps system for under $300 and take it with you anywhere.... It's been a life saver for me. Or there's the horse and buggy option someone mentioned!!!!
I agree parking charges are ridiculous.

Yea - the thing is - (I'm reminding myself of Gary Cole in Office Space) - when I'm making my decisions about whether or not to go to a game, I'm not necessarily where I'm gunna be leaving from at the time. Ya know? So - how hard would it be to include a physical address on the website. Hmmmmm? Plus, the spouse has our GPS. Plus, don't you still need to plug an address into the GPS? I 'got the memo' on the GPS units - super cool device. Just bought one over the weekend at Best Buy for $199 to give a family member for his bday, as a matter of fact.

Must be pretty hard..... some websites can't even get scores posted..... I agree... a user friendly web would not only have the physical address there but a link that would automatically provide directions from all major freeways.... or a link to a directions site -- like mapquest -- with the destination already filled in. Like I said, we're luck to even get updated scores and summaries.

We normally just look up mapquest city to city if we are looking for an estimate on how long it will take to get there. If city-to-city isn't good enough, then I shouldn't think that Mapquest would be good enough either — you'd almost certainly have a lot of variability due to traffic that mapquest simply wouldn't pick up.
