Lisa Meeter at New Mexico and Erin Skipper at Bill and Mary also are off to fine starts.

Allison Wack had a great first week in conference play, averaging 3.29 KPG, .86 BPG and hitting at a .340 clip in the first week.
I'm betting she has won the battle for the starting L2 spot at Wisconsin behind Dolgner.

How about some setters:
Annie Fesl, Cincinnati: 13.59 assists/game Jenna Hagglund, Washington: 13.54 assists/game Lexi Zimmerman, Michigan: 13.29 assists/game
This is a good year for freshman setters; those three are in the top ten on the NCAA's list.

Ashley Mass, Iowa State: Season: 3.25 digs/gm Since moving into the starting lineup: 4.67 digs/gm
Iowa State started 1-4, but is 7-1 (3-1 Big 12) since Mass was put in as starting libero.

Cals frosh setter is very good too. I was very impressed in watching her against Stanford on Friday.

Keep an eye on Gibbemeyer, too. She's coming on strong.

I'm surprised Gibbemeyer hasn't blown out of the gates, like Deiter. I think she could be all-big ten caliber this season. She was/is a can't miss in my opinion.

Any player with a German name should be excluded.

I thought it would be the other way around. Probably has a lot to do with it being easier to quickly develop chemistry between a setter and an OH than it is with a setter and a middle. I get the feeling she's about ready to really bust loose, however. And, again, I'm talking offensively. She's blocking, serving and defending great.

Any player with a German name should be excluded. Pretty sure Gibbemeyer is an Italian name. You can't throw pasta in Rome without hitting a Gibbemeyer in the head.

From USC, Kimmie Roleder is right up there. She averages 3.29 kpg & .251% for the season (Haley has been easing her slowly behind Gysin) but more important is her conference stats: 4.12 kpg, .272% and 1.0 bpg!
Garrett is also playing great. Her numbers are down since she had flu 2 weeks ago, and I believe she will crank up her stats again soon. Currently, she has 2.11 kpg, .305% & 0.94 bpg.
I think both will be on Pac-10 all-freshman team, and depending on how USC does throughout the conference schedule, Roleder could give Klineman a run for Pac-10 FOY.

Becky Perry- Washington 3.95 kills per game .411 hitting percentage Yes, she's doing well in her first season of play. She's not a candidate for freshman of the year because she redshirted last year. She's kind of a freshman with an asterisk.
