Can someone give us an update on her injury? It is a little hard to believe that it is taking her this long to recover from an Ankle sprain.

I have seen some very serious ankle "sprains" that have taken several to many months to heal. Let's not destroy her career and life by encouraging her to come back too early.

What? Destroy her life? If an ankle injury could destroy her life, that ain't saying much for her.

I think this is actually wise of Jerritt to let her ankle heal fully. I think they have the ability to stay strong and win their matches (barring Nebraska) without her. They are better off to let her heal completely so that when it does get to tougher matches later on, she can contribute 100%. Sprains can take varying amounts of time to heal. I have a high ankle sprain that happened almost two months ago. I have played in a 2 day tournament two weeks ago when it was at 80% but have stopped since then to let it heal completely...b/c it as not healed completely yet.

The best way to shorten your athletic career is to come back too soon from your injuries.
At 19 you can push through the pain and still function at 90%, and it's tempting to do so. Then, when you're in your late 30s you start to notice a general ache or tightness in a certain joint or muscle group for no reason that you can remember at first, and by your mid 40s you find yourself funding your local chiropractor/orthopedist.
Competition is a wonderful thing, especially when you're young, but our bodies were simply not built to perform those kinds of repetitions and still function normally for 8 decades.

I had an ankle sprain a month ago. I still have swelling, and there must be nerve damage, because I have tingling and numbness still. Oy. It is really affecting my ability to help the players I am watching on tv because the pain limits my couch coaching techniques, such as buttock squeezing, core twisting, head in hands move, and others.

No, Rob, but she does have a sister (Sarah) who played in the CAA a few years ago - at Delaware. Any relation to Lauren Engle of Hofstra?

At the past two home games, Ashley has been warming up with the team in all of the warm-ups. Previously, she wouldn't even warm up, so I thinks he is progressing. Still, at the end of the last game (granted the game was in UT control safely), she was standing on the sideline with both shoes off (although nothing wrapped around her ankle). I think that if it were up to Ashley, she would be playing, but I think Jerritt is letting her rest and the medical trainers are advising just a little more rest. Give her a few more games and we should see her back...

Who has been playing at opposite with Engle currently out? When they played at Nebraska it was Paolini in the front row and one of the DS players in the back row. When Engle returns I will be curious to see if Paolini moves to MB and pushes either Magee or Doris to the bench.

Doris could be, but I think coach is trying to develop Jennifer. Either way, Magee's playing time will probably not change. Current lineup is Faucette, Paolini, Moriarity, Doris, Hooker, Magee, Jennings-Libero. It will definitely either be Paolini or Doris that go to the bench if Engle comes back. Still, even when Engle does come back, she may not start right away. Coach may want to ease her back into play.

Thanks for the update.
What a nice problem to have, too many good players to pick from...
